avaricesims Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! In the last chapter the heir race left the starting line, with both Kali and Shiva vying for attention and making a strong showing. Athena and Ophelia worked a lot on their aspirations, and the lovely heiress was a royal pain in the arse with all her prolonged, maudlin grieving for her dead parents. It's been YEARS (I guess, Sim time??) Athena. GET OVER IT.
Oh my God, what if she outlives Ophelia?? I will have to kill her.
Speaking of Ophelia, she is the only adult not sobbing in bed over parents who died six chapters ago, so she makes her own birthday cake.
She then throws herself a party in a futile attempt to make more friends, and strengthen relationships with the ones she has. At least my game never seems to have issues with Sims not turning up. She's met Damon a grand total of once yet here he is, as summoned, along with wife Kiara (Ophelia's sister). And as expected he's already old, since he practically had one foot in the grave when Kiara forced him to be her baby daddy.
Kiara: my Mums both died when I was a teenager and I'm using it as a flimsy excuse for bad taste in men, don't judge me.
Unfortunately Ophelia's party doesn't quite go to plan. She's meant to be socialising but instead she's drinking alone, giving her son the evil eye for some reason. Why? Because the damn cake glitched and I spent most of the party time frantically a) baking a new one and then b) moving it to every available surface until the candle interaction FINALLY came up, with moments to spare.
Hence the rushed picture. I didn't have time to wait for the damn caterer to move his damn butt out of the way. Happy birthday, Ophelia?
At least the entertainment was good. This chick was usually the generated entertainer that turned up in life, and apparently death has not stopped her from doing her job. Now that's dedication!
After the party ends Ophelia and Athena move right on to a date without even pausing for breath. Damon doesn't have a chance to leave, they're that fast, and becomes an unintentional awkward third wheel.
Athena: Damon, you can go now pls.
Damon: wth, I haven't even finished my cake.
Ophelia and Athena try a more romantic location (some french cafe in Windenberg) but all they do is trade their third wheel for Bjorn the creeper. Bjorn, can you get out of my cute photos, please?
At this point this is an extremely awkward conversation. I'm not surprised.

Back home Athena tries to be cute and make pancakes for the wifey but sets herself on fire instead.
ATHENAAAA. I know I play fast and loose with your life by making you fix broken electronics but I don't actively want you to die!! I am just passively willing to risk it because I am cheap and playing by strict rules that are really making this money thing a challenge.
Luckily Ophelia saves the day and Athena is only lightly crisped, instead of chargrilled. It occurs to me that, without firefighters, if a Sim was home alone when they caught on fire they would inevitably die. Terrifying! I am instating a buddy system for all stove use, effective immediately.
Ophelia appears totally unperturbed by the near-death of her wife and soulmate, and while Athena is in the shower she arranges a dance party at the ancient ruins. I figure $20 is a bargain if Ophelia can make a friend or two out of it. She invites a bunch of people she has only just met, or who she is acquaintances with, and only Art as a solitary friend. For moral support, I suppose, on this impossible friendship quest.
As it turns out loads of people who weren't invited come anyway. I guess word got out.
Ophelia: ah, a victim. I will be her friend!

Ophelia awkward white girl dances into a friendship with red hair in the back, first. I can't remember her name. Maybe Ashley? She also makes friends with yellow and black top in the middle, who is also her coworker, so that's handy. I think her name started with J. I don't know. I don't care. I just want Ophelia to finish this aspiration.
Then...then...YOU GUYS. IT'S HAPPENING. MY FIRST GROUP DANCE. They take a little while to shuffle themselves into position...

I'm dying. I am dead. I am writing this update in the afterlife (hopefully while sipping a cocktail on the beach, amirite). I love this so much, it is everything I have ever wanted. Synchronised group dancing! Actual cackling. It will be worth maxing the dance skill with a Sim for the sole purpose of seeing more of this magic and wonder play out on dance floors all around the Sims worlds.
Don't ask me why I love this interaction so much. I have no idea. I just know it is the pinnacle of Sims game play and I am a happy camper indeed.
DJ Whatshisface: oh my goodness this is tragic, not one of these sadsacks can dance.
Ophelia: I can't remember your name either, but we're friends now. Okay?
Lady: ...o...kay.
It's something Winter. I think.
And yes, as you can tell by the lighting change, Ophelia partied all day and long into the night. She was a tired bunny at the end, but there was friend progress.
When she gets home she has to wait to use the toilet for ages because Gavin's ghost is in there, fuming mad, and refuses to come out.

Gavin: I worked my fingers to the bone for this family and they're still using the same shitty fixtures. Has my daughter done nothing to upgrade the legacy home?
Er, sorry Gav, that's my fault. I am a lazy simmer with an aversion to build mode, so they have to save enough to buy a whole new house rather than upgrading as they go.
Oh also, I made a note that Athena was promoted to 'Serious Musician' around about this time. Go Athena!
Anyway, the kids have been very absent this chapter so far, so let's catch up with them. Shiva has been practising his typing next to a dangerously sparking broken radio thing for ages, because he needs to for his aspiration.
Oop, insane Sim alert! God I love it when they talk to themselves. Mad little guy.
As an aside, typing? Motor skill? Uh, okay I guess. At a stretch. I stalled on Shiva's aspiration for ages because I was too busy with others to send him to the park to play on the playground, which I thought was the only way to build motor skill. Turns out he can just sit on his arse at a computer all day.
Poor Shiva might also be going a bit loopier than usual from lack of sleep, because I took forever to install the anti-monster light by his bed (turns out just having one in the room isn't enough). I loved that monster thing when it first happened. Now it is the bane of my existence. Whenever it wakes up a Sim I scream and curse at the computer screen... a lot like Shiva, actually.
Maybe I'M the crazy one.
Angry Gavin refused to give up the bathroom to anyone else until morning. Bye, you grumpy old coot!
Meanwhile, Kali's last remaining task for her Whiz Kid aspiration is to max her Mental skill.
She's mucking around at the science table with a single point to go when I realise a) it's her birthday today and b) it's a school day. Nooooooo! I did not come this close to finishing this aspiration only to have it whipped away right at the last second.
Kali: hi, Principal Whatever Your Name Is? I can't come to school today, I gotta obsessively science the SHIT outta these experiments and max out my brain power before I age up later.
Principal Something or Rather: what? Kali, you can't just skip school to run random science experiments all day...
Kali: *hangs up*
And science all day she does, maxing her Mental skill and finishing the Whiz kid aspiration just in the nick of time!
While Kali is threatening to set fire to the back of the house through dangerous experiments Athena bakes her birthday cake, looking like a drugged monkey while doing so. She also looks dizzy, but if you're wondering what the gold sparkles are above her head, it's a feature of the new lot traits.
Ophelia is still at work and Shiva is passed out in bed when Kali decides to go ahead with her birthday, but Athena is around to celebrate with her.
Athena: my oldest child's birthday? Lol no, I gotta go cry at Mum and Dad's graves.

Kali is a teenager! Post-makeover driveway pictures....ngggghhhh she's so pretty! Athena's hair and eye colour, and I think also nose, but Ophelia's mouth and eye shape. She rolls the Clumsy trait and Leader of the Pack aspiration. That's a Get Together clubs focused aspiration...not terribly interesting but also not terrible, I can roll with it. And I think clumsy suits her - she's a cute, nerdy, clumsy neat-freak. I love her personality so far.
I give her a geek-friendly outfit which is chill, laidback, and very sweet.
And that brings us to the end of the chapter! Ophelia continues to struggle to make friends, Athena continues to piss me off by trying to mourn her parents all the time, and the kids continue to be adorable little shites that I just want to cuddlesquish. Also, first completed childhood aspiration! I call that a definite win.
At some point I will update scoring. I know, by the way, that I ignore the spouse rules for Sims challenges. I always have because I prioritise story over those kinds of restrictions...technically Ophelia should never have been eligible and I think if I remember right Gavin isn't eligible either. But idc, I don't know or select these Sims traits in advance, and I have stricter than usual money rules in place anyway. So although my scores might not be official, I still like to score for fun. Tune in next time, I might just do an update on that front!
