avaricesims Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! In the last chapter the family (barely) survived their first wilderness adventure before crawling, screaming and crying, back to a world with electricity and soft beds. A new expansion was installed (new for me, not for the rest of planet earth - I installed Get Together because it was on sale for like $18). What will the Legend's get up to now they know camping is not for them? Read on to find out!
Ophelia: ah yes, wonderful oven. Wonderful electricity. Wonderful food that does not force us all to eat in a cloud of our own noxious gas. But, Athena, can you stop leaving your weird hippy remedies lying around the house?!
Kali: hey look, Mom. We can totally sit outdoors, on our safe enclosed porch, and enjoy the wilderness at a distance while still having regular-people things to do. Like play chess.
Ophelia: I don't know how regular it is for a ten year old to like chess this much, but don't worry - the creator won't drag us back to Granite Falls in a hurry. We're all too pathetic.
Kali: thank christ for that.
Athena: thank every God in every religion that we're home, I think this baby is coming!
Also, she's been promoted to Opening Act, by the way. I'm terrible about careers updates and all that! There's no natural time to take a picture so I tend to forget.
Athena: home birth? Uh no, I don't think so. We've escaped camping hell, and I want an epidural.
Athena: my doctor...is a ghost. What did I do to deserve this fresh hell?!
Yep, that is the "doctor" yanking out Athena's heart so she flatlines in this dodgy birth machine. Ignore the dead doctor imposter, Athena! Do NOT go into the light!!
Despite the nefarious ghost's plans to drag his patients into the afterlife with him, Athena survives the birth and brings into the world a baby boy! Meet Shiva Legend, named for the Hindu God of creation, destruction, and regeneration. That's quite the set of portfolios to be in charge of...I wonder if Sim Shiva will be as chaotic as that sounds?
Immediately after Shiva's birth my first Get Together opportunity comes up, in the form of an invitation to a dance party from Artemis. Both Ophelia and Athena went along and had fun partying it up, though to my annoyance I couldn't get them to do the group dance. I wanted pictures, dammit, you uncooperative Sims! At least Ophelia met a few more people for her Friend of the World aspiration - she's having some trouble making more than 7-8 friends at the moment, and she needs 12.
Straight after the dance party Athena and Ophelia wind down with a romantic date at one of the new Windenberg bars. I am very careful to make sure they earn a silver medal and not a gold, since Athena needs two silver dates with her soulmate for her aspiration.
But after I hastily end the date on the silver medal (does it count for the aspiration if they do better than the stated medal required? I don't know and I wasn't willing to risk it and waste a date) Ophelia and Athena get all hot and heavy anyway.
First proper Get Together milestone! Public woohoo!!
And finally, before bed, Athena makes up for ditching Kali at home alone for hours and hours by reading to her some more. It's funny that babies go to daycare but small children are allowed free reign of the house when parents go out. -1 responsibility, Athena.
Incidentally Athena has gained some baby weight so the next morning she's up bright and early for a gym session. I like the realistic and interesting weight changes in the Sims 4 - as far as I can tell pregnancy usually causes some permanent weight gain (unless it's addressed) and Sims also naturally get a bit of middle aged spread happening as they get older unless they continue being active.
Athena finds herself getting yelled at by this random person while she tries to workout, and he forces her to speed up the treadmill and put it on a crazy incline. Why is everyone in this town trying to kill my heiress?!
It works though - Athena sheds that weight like magic, though it's nice she's not stick thin like the insta-lean potions make Sims. Still a little junk in the trunk! And she looks funky with her post-pregnancy makeover. I will miss the sparkly purple fun suit but Athena is older and more mature now.
I mean, just look at her rocking that violin. She actually sounds pretty great now, I love that I recognise some of the songs she plays!
In fact, she rocks that violin so hard I decide she might as well kick off the clubs feature for this legacy, with a music-focused club. I was feeling so super creative that I named it The Musos. I'm so good at this.
The only members are Athena's sisters Artemis and Aphrodite. Initially only Aphrodite was invited but Artemis phoned and asked to join and how could I say no to my beloved Art?! Even though she can't play an instrument and sounds like a dying cat when she tries.
At least Aphrodite and Athena can rock out together! The club focuses on both playing and listening to music and it's really cool that Athena has a club with her sisters so they can spend more time together.
Athena is not the only one joining clubs, either. Kali decides to create a homework club for the nerd kids, to which she invites as many of the neighbourhood brats as the feature allows. They are called the Homework Hustlers (see, I'm still so good at this) and they meet after school mostly to do their homework together.
This kid, Max, promptly asks Kali to join HIS club, the Renegades. She agrees and goes along to one meeting, finds out it's a club for dastardly people of all ages to do dastardly things, and promptly quits in disgust. My goodie two shoes in a mischief club?! I think not! She also kicks Max out of her homework club for not being a proper nerd.
This girl whose name I forget is nice, though, and her and Kali enjoy the other club activities together - reading and playing chess. Neeeeeeerds.
However, while it's a nerd club for nerd kids, they still make a lot of mess - they leave hundreds of books lying around and also a lot of plates from all the cookies Athena feeds them like a responsible mother. All those extra dishes eventually break the dishwasher...
Look, I know it's risky for the heir to fix leaking electronics. But Athena and Ophelia have at least one $10,000-$20,000 inheritance to pay out assuming both their children survive to adulthood, and I am also really really keen to upgrade to a bigger house. Gotta save that dough somehow...and there's already two Gen 3 kiddies. Turns out in the interest of cheapness I am a cutthroat creator who will risk sacrificing her Sims to save a hundred bucks. Muhahaha.

Ohhh wait a minute, cute detour alert! At some point Kali meets her dead grandmother, Gaia, for the first time! They totally hit it off.
Gaia: hiya, I'm your gran.
Kali: hey, dead granny! So what's it like being old and deceased?
Gavin: kids these days, ask so many inappropriate questions. I'm not that old.
Gav, you're dead.
Gavin: no need to rub it in! ...I miss my wife.
No problem, she's haunting the bathroom and breaking all the plumbing. Go stop her, please.
So, I hear you ask, did you have a baby at the beginning of this chapter and then proceed to entirely ignore it? I sure did! Even the dead grandparents got more air time this chapter, sorry Shiva. Let me rectify that.
Well first of all, he's blonde! Yay! Still got Athena's brown eyes though, they seem to be the sticky genetic factor for this legacy. The rest of his genetics? Could go either way. I see some Gavin in there, especially his mouth, and after the way Apollo grew up I'm not counting any chickens. For now, though, Shiva is pretty cute.
And as usual, quite a trendy wee thing. I like beanies, can you tell? Shiva also apparently wanted to live up to the chaos of his namesake God, and rolled the Insane trait. I was wondering when that would pop up for this legacy! I enjoy that trait so it certainly doesn't rule him out of the heir race. He also rolls Rambunctious Scamp, which fits nicely.
I decide after the challenge of four children in Generation 2, two children for Generation 3 is perfectly fine. So the nursery part of the bedroom is made over for Shiva (he shares with Kali, still).
And we will finish with this ridiculous adorableness from Ophelia, who was promoted to Assistant to the Manager in her business career and celebrated with Shiva cuddles. So much aww!
