Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! In the last chapter the remaining Generation 2 spares, Artemis and Apollo, moved out of the legacy and on with their own lives. They're free from the responsibilities and expectations of the legacy heiress, though no doubt they will still appear as frequent visitors.

This chapter we return to our heiress, Athena, and see how life is going for the fiery redhead and her blonde bombshell girlfriend.

Athena: ooooh I don't feel good. Not good at all. But I have a date with Ophelia...and she turns into a green-eyed monster if I cancel plans with her on account of that jealous trait.

Ophelia: thanks for meeting me out here, Athena. It's so pretty by the river at the back of the legacy lot.
Athena: no problem. I'm super sick, though, by the way. Look at the weird-ass infection on my skin.
Ophelia: that's okay, you're just continuing the Legend tradition of engagement pictures ruined by horrifying skin ailments.

Athena: engagement?! Hold on a second, gotta share my germs.

Ophelia: okay, I think I'm germy enough now. Will you marry me, Athena? I can't stand the thought of you with anyone else and, in the immortal words of Queen B, I wanna put a ring on it. Then I can legitimately bitch slap anyone who looks at you a little too long.

Athena, trying not to faint: Oooh, nice ring babe. Can we have Beyonce for our wedding music?
I mean, yes!

And so my sparkly purple heiress and girlfriend Ophelia get engaged down by the river, and it would have been super romantic if Athena didn't look like a leper.

Ophelia: christ
Athena: :D

Of course, there is a post-engagement celebratory woohoo to indulge in afterwards...the kind of woohoo, by the way, where certain precautions are dispensed with.

Meanwhile, Gaia is thoroughly enjoying her "retirement". She's actually still maintaining her garden so she hasn't retired as such, but she always had a lot of free time and now she puts most of it to good use getting freaky with her ghost husband.

Gaia, I know that used to be your room but it's Athena's now and doing the do with Gavin where I think you're thinking of doing the do with Gavin is SUPER inappropriate.

Of course Apollo still swings by to visit now and then and when he does, trouble ensues. He must have dared Gaia to streak at some point because this happened. Also, it happened right at the same time as one of the neighbours decided on daily visits for no apparent reason and she's not friends with any of the Legends.

And will probably remain not friends with them after seeing a saggy granny going jogging around the block in her birthday suit.

Aphrodite, fortunately, manages to arrive after Gaia puts her clothes back on. Close call there, Aph. Boy did you get lucky. She's still visiting a couple of times a week and unless the Legends are really busy they always accept visits from her, Art, and Apollo.

As suggested in the previous chapter Ophelia has indeed taken over the cooking, because I have deemed it too risky for Athena until she produces at least one child and potential heir. As Ophelia is relatively important to that goal too, she mostly makes salads.

It's funny that in the Sims the family can fall into regular old daily living and almost get into a rut, same as what happens in real life. The daily grind gets in the way of fun things and getting out and about. The Legends haven't even taken advantage of being able to go on vacation to Granite Falls yet!

But then something happens to shake everything up.

I'd just gotten a notification that Dina, Ophelia's other mother, had died. It occurred to me that J and Gaia were pretty much the only ones from their old group left, so I'd just directed her to phone J for a final night on the town...

But I was too late. Gaia passed away peacefully in her room while Athena and Ophelia were both at work.

*ominous music*

Grim Reaper: christ alive, this is an awkward place to try and collect your soul from. I lurked outside your window for like 2 hours trying to avoid coming inside, but I guess I can squeeze myself down there to reap your soul.

And that was that. In the Sims 3 I feel like elder Sims lasted a lot longer, and were often around to help raise their grandchildren, but it seems they have a shorter final age span in this incarnation of the game. I'm sad Gaia will never meet Athena or Apollo's children.

Oh boy. I am really going to miss Gaia. She was the best legacy founder I think I've ever had - sociable, fun, outgoing and a bit quirky. Although she never worked a day in her life in an actual job, she achieved her aspiration of Freelance Botanist, maxed her gardening skill, and produced a garden that was both beautiful and profitable. She had four wonderful children, including our lovely heiress Athena, and left all of her family comfortably well off and with a decent roof over their heads - including the children who will not inherit her legacy.

No doubt her and Gavin's ghost will have ghostly woohoo all over the house and make Athena forever uncomfortable, and I look forward to seeing her in spiritual form.

There's a lot less mourning in the house this time around. Artemis and Apollo now have their own homes and own relationships, and Athena and Ophelia were both out when Gaia died. But Athena does mourn for her mother, even as new life begins to emerge in the Legend household.

Athena: as per our agreement for me to carry the first baby and you to carry the second, I'm pregnant!
Ophelia: I don't see why we both need to destroy our figures but we'll talk about that later. Yay!

Ophelia: seriously, though. We're having a baby!

And that brings us to the end of the chapter. An engagement, the death of the founder, and the announcement of a new baby - and it's still a shorter chapter than my recent ones. But it feels right to leave it here.

So Ophelia and Athena are doing things a little non-traditionally, getting pregnant before the official marriage. They're not that traditional of a family though so I don't think anyone really cares too much about the order! Tune in next time for what will no doubt be a super cute wedding - and no one had better get sick during it, either!
