The Legend Legacy 2.2: Spare Change
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! In the last chapter Athena was revealed as heiress for Generation 2 and we lost Gavin in the first legacy death. Life swings in roundabouts, huh?

With Gavin's loss comes the loss of the home handyman, and the rest of the family are left to club together and get the damn toilet working again. I should have had him upgrade everything, I really should have. Epic fail, this stupid shit breaks constantly.

Although...Gavin is back much sooner than expected! Gaia is obviously delighted and promptly takes him to bed, although she also gets the tense "startled by ghost" moodlet in the process. What, exactly, did you and Gavin get up to in there Gaia?! .....on second thought I don't want to know.

Sadly he does not seem to have taken his repair skills over into the afterlife but he did take his neat trait so at least he makes himself useful when he's not making Gaia uncomfortable and turned on at the same time. It beats the sad moodlets they've all finally lost, though.

It's a shame Gavin couldn't be invited, since plenty of other ghosts show up, but it's soon time for Athena and Apollo's young adult birthdays. Since it's a big one - the heiress is growing up! - I decide on a proper party at the fancy nightclub in Newcrest. Remind me not to do this again, it was awful. The lighting makes all the pictures bad, and Art couldn't tend bar because the damn bartender wouldn't move, so she couldn't work on her aspiration like I planned.
As per usual Athena goes first as the older twin. It is a moment of terror and nerves, but to my utter relief she rolls the Cheerful trait. Phew, I can totally work with that! Her final trait lineup is Evil, Music Lover, Cheerful, and Alluring, and her aspiration is Soulmate. All in all, a really nice, interesting, workable Sim for heir.

Then Apollo, who gets only a slightly better commemorative picture. He rolls Loves the Outdoors, the only one of the four children to inherit this trait from Gaia. With Self-Assured, Neat, Loves the Outdoors and Dastardly, and the aspiration Chief of Mischief, he's a more mixed bag though there's nothing inexplicable in there.

By the way, although I was annoyed with how shit the party was, Artemis stayed out til dawn partying hard and clocked up our second legacy pass-out-from-exhaustion. Nice.

And now, finally, that Generation 2 are all Young Adults - they can have their CAS panel! I'm pretty happy with the genetic diversity of this generation. Athena and Aphrodite definitely look the most similar to each other though I think this shows that Athena is prettier. Gorgeous Art is mocking me with her Hates Children trait, and Apollo would have been a lot better looking if his eyes weren't so tiny - especially since he's the only one with a different eye colour. Loads of diversity in their noses and face shape though!

Anyway, back to life at the Legend residence. Or, back to flirting with death. The first thing Athena does as an adult is give me an actual heart attack by setting herself on fire. No! You're the heir, you stupid girl!

Luckily Gaia has the Naturalist trait from her gardening mojo and manages to put her daughter and the kitchen out. Thank Christ. Random woman Apollo is putting the moves on gets to join in the family panic for a minute, though.

Athena: ugh. I think it might be time for Ophelia to move in and take over the cooking.
True. But she can stick to salads at least until you're pregnant, girlfriend. I need assurance of a new generation before you lot go around trying to kill yourselves off.

Athena: hi baby. As you're still a teen I don't know why the game let me autonomously do this, since The Creator doesn't have any selectable romance options for you. I guess our love is just this strong.

Athena: so, I know it's customary to marry and all first, but maybe you'd like to move in and we can think about the rest of it later? I kind of need you to do the cooking so I don't try to die in a fire before producing any heirs again.
Ophelia: ....what? I mean, sure, I'll move in. But what??

Athena gets to celebrate her Young Adult birthday with a superb cake baked by mother Gaia, and with just Athena and Gaia in attendance. Then she really does move in! Ophelia is jealous, self-assured, and lazy - a pretty negative combination of traits! Lucky she's pretty amirite. She also has the aspiration Friend of the World, which seems a pretty nice complement to Athena's soulmate aspiration. With those traits I figure she should go into business - she'll have to work hard in the beginning but bigwig CEOs don't actually do anything, right? That should suit her lazy trait ;)

Ophelia gets a quick, very minor makeover to celebrate moving in (which she looks thrilled about, not). She's so pretty that I leave most stuff the same but try her in this cute boho look for her everyday outfit. Adorable, huh?

Athena and Ophelia, of course, move into the master bedroom - and I get them a new bed because it'd be weird for Athena to keep the bed she was conceived in to be honest.

Which means Gaia needs a new space of her own. I convert the teen bedroom in the back to a little retiree retreat for her.

Anyway, as the chapter title suggests, this is really a chapter about the Generation 2 spares. After failing to find anyone I feel is a good fit for Apollo around town, I do a little gallery browsing and find Kimberly Garcia. Cute, curvy, wears glasses - she's perfection. Apollo swings by her house...er...on a casual walk? And happens to bump into her?
(I don't know what her traits or aspirations are because that would be cheating).

Apollo pulls out his best moves and discovers she's Creative and Good, which I think bodes well for her as a potential partner.
Apollo: have this rose, Kimberly?
Kimberly: oh, how lovely. Where the hell did you pull that from, though? I swear you weren't carrying a rose when you got here.
Apollo: uh. Not important?

*gratuitous picture just to show how cute she is*

Pretty soon Kimberly is around at the Legend residence fairly often, getting to know Apollo and his family better.

Meanwhile, Artemis is enjoying Aldo's newfound independence now that his mother and sister live across the street from him, instead of with him in a tiny one bed house.

Because of his work hours she generally has to visit at night, though she doesn't mind.

They have lots of nighttime activities to enjoy together!

Eventually, after a couple of weeks, Aldo invites Artemis to stay for the weekend so they can spend his time off work together. He grills her some fruit for breakfast.

I think Art really enjoys the desert lifestyle. It's chilled out and fun, just like her. And Aldo is a pretty decent cook.

Aldo then promptly develops some kind of awful sickness but doesn't let that put a damper on his day. He set aside time to woo his girlfriend and he's going to woo his girlfriend, goddamnit!

Sorry Art, you probably just caught whatever he has.

Before they can both get too dazed and woozy, Aldo brings out the surprise proposal!
Aldo: actually I think I just fell over. I don't feel so good.
Art: but...but that IS a ring, right?
Aldo: what? Oh, right. Yep! Might as well give it to you now I'm down here!
Aldo is an art-lover, a foodie, cheerful, and wants to be a Renaissance Sim. He's just a cool, casual, fun guy and I think he's a perfect fit for Art.

Artemis: and then he proposed! Or maybe fainted a little, it's hard to be sure. But I'm going to move in with him, okay?
Gaia: I'm happy for you, darling. Take $10,000 from the family account to set up your new life with Aldo. But visit often!
Since Aldo already owns a house and Artemis will be moving in with him, I decide $10,000 is a fair sum for a spare in this situation. As I did with Aphrodite, I deduct it from the Legend household and add it when I get to Aldo and Artemis' new household.

Ten thousand is plenty enough for Artemis to make some upgrades to her and Aldo's house. They expand the bedroom, renovate the lounge and kitchen, and add a bar out front for Artemis' career. I don't make it much bigger at all though, since her and Aldo will be remaining child-free and fun-loving. They will also be remaining engaged and not marrying. I feel like Art is exactly the type to insist on a long engagement and then just never get around to ordering the stupid bit of paper for an actual marriage. She loves Aldo, Aldo loves her, what more do they need?

I play her and Aldo just long enough to settle them into their fancy new house and get Artemis promoted to mixologist. I feel like she'll be happy with that, so I leave them be. Goodbye and good luck, lovely Art...I wish you were heir, but it just wasn't what you wanted in the end. I think you'll have a fun life though.

Back in the Legend household Athena has picked Entertainer as her career path. As she Loves Music, it seemed like the most fitting choice. To distinguish her from older sister Aphrodite, who is in the same career, I have her take up violin instead of guitar though.
A mistake. This sounds SO MUCH WORSE than guitar when Sims are crap at it.

Surprisingly, it is also Athena who mourns Gavin the most frequently. Maybe because Gaia is still having hot ghost sex with him.

Apollo: hey, Kimberly. We've been hanging out a lot lately...
Kimberly: have we?
Apollo: oh yeah, heaps. The creator just didn't take many pictures because she's useless.
Kimberly: righto.
Apollo: so anyway, how about an official date? Meet me at the park?

Apollo: thank Christ Kimberly isn't here yet, that's embarrassing.

Apollo starts his and Kimberly's date by making the dubious choice of cooking franks and beans for her. It popped up as a new option on the grill because I bought Outdoor Retreat, and I thought it sounded fun. Of course, both of them spent the rest of the date farting in perfect synchrony though. Romantic.

Apollo: you have such beautiful blue eyes, Kimberly.
Kimberly: awwww thanks babe
Apollo: maybe they'll balance out my tiny piggy eyes in our children.

These two, though. As much as Apollo is my least favourite from Generation 2, he's freaking adorable sometimes.
Apollo: I know this isn't quite as lovely as planned because neither of us can stop farting, but will you marry me Kimberly?

Kimberly: oh my goodness! *loud farting noise* Of course I will!

Kimberly: in fact, I'm not a big wedding kind of girl. I don't have any living family, and your family is totally preoccupied with Athena since she's heiress. Why don't we just elope right now?

And so they do.

Apollo moves directly into Kimberly's home, which she got when I downloaded her from the gallery and kicked out some weird family who didn't capitalise their first names.

And just look at this perfection - it's adorable! It even comes with a tiny kid's room!

And they waste no time conceiving the child who will one day fill it. I only play Apollo and Kim for a little while. Kimberly is Creative and a Music Lover, so becomes yet another Sim in this legacy employed in the entertainment career. Apollo goes into the Criminal career track since it sort of suits his aspiration, though the lack of story progression dictates he will always be a petty criminal and nothing more serious than that. Which works for me! Kim is indeed pregnant when I leave them to it and I look forward to seeing their only child out and about in the future.
And that concludes Chapter 2 of Generation 2! Artemis and Apollo join Aphrodite in spreading their wings and leaving the nest, which means the legacy household is a lot quieter now with just Athena, Ophelia and Gaia at home. The spares have moved on to their lives outside of the legacy, and in the next chapter we'll return to our heiress and enjoy her trials and tribulations as she works to contribute to the Legend legacy.
Thanks for reading, and see you next time!
