Lynx - Autumn 1

Welcome to autumn with Catarina Lynx! Our charming, cat-loving heroine starts her season in her Brindleton Bay dockside cottage, but we won't be here for long...

Knox has turned out to be very serious about Catarina, and they have been calling and texting constantly. Catarina met his parents and they enjoyed some wholesome and adorable dates in the summer, and now Catarina invites Knox out again as soon as she's off work.

They enjoy some companionable fishing for a while, with Knox indulging Catarina in one of her favourite activities.

Then, she is delighted to have a chance to show Knox a little more of her home by taking him along to Brindleton Bay's museum and lighthouse.

These two are TOO cute.

And although they haven't been dating for terribly long, Catarina doesn't hesitate to say yes when Knox proposes to her at the lighthouse, with a stunning autumnal view of Brindle Bay in the background. It's our first Townie proposal!

I love that these two homebodies/nerds found each other. Catarina could have been quite happy with her cottage and her cats, but Knox came along and changed her whole world.

Literally, she moved worlds to be with him. Catarina sold her cottage in Brindleton Bay, donated most of the money to a local pet shelter, and moved in with Knox, Blossom, and Mary in Evergreen Harbor. They considered Knox moving to Brindleton Bay, but his role as Eco Master and position in the community are both pretty essential. Catarina decided to accept a few challenges: live in a shared space with Knox's family, live off the grid, and aim to improve Evergreen Harbor for everyone.

Of course, Catarina and Knox still needed their own space and some privacy. Luckily, the Greenburg family's quirky container home has been designed to offer just that, with Catarina and Knox taking up residence in the tower.

The tower is just a single room accessible by ladder, while Mary and Blossom reside in the ground-level container on the left. Knox and Catarina have a basic bathroom on the ground level under the tower and a grill in the yard, although the main cooking facilities are in Blossom and Mary's home. Luckily, they all get along great and Catarina, laid back and loving, is the perfect Sim for experimental living out of all of the Townies.

And it really is going to be an experiment. This feels very different from her Brindleton Bay cottage, but Catarina jumps right in with some candle-making. Financially, they are doing okay, with about $20,000 left over after renovating the lot a bit to make it habitable for everyone and fully off-grid capable. However, Catarina is currently the only one with a job, and her fishing gig is very part-time, so they're going to need to find some ways to earn.

Mary soon distinguishes herself as the gardener of the family, and after a few more planter boxes are added, she soon has a small but thriving garden underway. I figured that in addition to finally learning a bit more about the Eco Living features, I'd give the family the full challenge, so they have Simple Living as well as Off the Grid to contend with.

After Catarina has to save Mary from a grill-related blaze, cooking becomes a domain primarily for Knox to handle.

Blossom gets stuck into recycling and fabricating as a significant contribution to the household.

Blossom also tends to take care of the laundry, which has to be done by hand due to the Off Grid challenge. Mary grows the flowers that scent the water.

By the morning of Harvestfest the family are getting used to each other and settling into a rhythm. They're generating some power with a windmill and solar panels, and collecting their own water. They seem to be able to meet all their needs.

They even start generating a trickle of income, with Catarina's candles and anything anyone collects contributing to a yard sale run every few days.

While everyone is getting along wonderfully, Knox and Catarina are still in a lovely honeymoon phase in their relationship, and they make sure they spend lots of time together just the two of them. When Catarina gets home from fishing she almost always sits down with Knox for a couple of hours, just to catch up.

Knox has taken to spending the time Catarina is away from the home for work to learn more about handiness, so he can fix things around the place himself.

Even so, and despite his Eco Master role, he has loads of free time, so decides to sign up to work as a civil designer. I'm hoping this will help him improve the state of Evergreen Harbor.

He starts by getting some signatures to change one of the NAPs, mainly for the sake of his aspiration.

He's pretty convincing, but I'm yet to figure out how community spaces work.

Catarina thinks that hardhats are sexy, and the two of them woohoo for the first time! Yes, they got engaged before sleeping together, which was unintentionally traditional of them, but they seem very compatible in this area too. Luckily!

Feeling closer than ever, the two lovebirds round out their autumn by leaving Mary and Blossom to take care of the chores and heading to Sulani for a day in the sunshine.

There's something about the autumn that makes me want to send Sims to the beach. Knox and Catarina enjoy it just as much as Angela and Lou did in a previous chapter.

By the time Knox and Catarina head back to Evergreen Harbor, it's snowing and winter is just about closing in. Which brings us to the end of their very romantic chapter! A proposal followed by moving in together in an alternative living arrangement with Knox's Mum and her wife made for quite a lot of change for Catarina over the autumn. Perhaps she and Knox will have a winter wedding!
