Chapter 13: The Nightmare in Forgotten Hollow

 Welcome back to 101 Disney Babies! In the last chapter, Snow gave birth to her final baby of the challenge, another boy named Hiro, before finally becoming an elder and gracefully bowing out of her baby-creating duties. We now have thirteen babies in this 101 baby challenge, with eight successfully raised to young adulthood. We return to the household with a new matriarch in power...

Sally: hah! I'm pregnant already! I'm so good at this.
Well, technically, just like Snow before her Sally lost a couple of days before getting pregnant with her first baby, but while Snow was tardy because she was insistent her first baby daddy be a married man, Sally was forced to wait until I knew she was actually taking over.



Ahh, the beautiful, glamorous life of a baby challenge matriarch. Are you still happy you get to take over, Sally?
Sally: *angry vomiting noises*
Facilier: this place is so gross.



Puking completed, Sally heads over to take care of Hiro (Snow is taking her retirement seriously and refusing to raise her remaining children) and Remy helps Charming blow out his candles.



Gosh, I was really really disinterested in Charming when I played this, as I took no CAS picture nor any other pictures of him until this one, ages later, when he was working on the second step of his Artistic Prodigy aspiration. He rolled Proper for his trait, like Sally, which I guess actually kind of fits for a classic Disney Prince.



Meanwhile, Jack visits and Snow gives him a key to the house, as per tradition.



There were two more birthdays in quick succession, then. First, youngest Hiro became a toddler. He got Masaru's hair, and it's a shame as I'm now making over the kids to look more like their namesakes, so I'll probably change it to black once he's a kid anyway. But for now, a cute little blondie.



Facilier also had his teen birthday at about the same time. He didn't finish a second aspiration, but I'm just happy he got one done.



Thanks I hate it.
That facial hair...Facilier (the character) has a moustache, and this was the closest that I could bear. He's a slob and also wants to be a body builder...not what I imagined for Dr Facilier, really, but there you go.



This is what Sally does instead of a job. Snow gardened and wrote books, but Sally has the collector aspiration so she collects shit and sells the duplicates. She actually managed to complete the fossil collection, which surprised and impressed me.



Meanwhile, Barley worked on his aspiration.



As the new matriarch I also thought Sally had better learn how to cook, since Snow won't be around to cook for the family forever. Her pregnancy passed by quickly as I focused on points from the other kids.



Snow: wait, I have to raise this one too?
Well, it seems weird to leave Sally to do it.
Snow: the good news just keeps coming in this challenge.



Caleb: hey, you said you'd utilise me in this challenge at some point. Still waiting.



Sally: see the thing is I am really QUITE pregnant right now. But I'll come find you soon, handsome.
Caleb: hahahahahHAHAHAHA okay
I don't know what's so funny, you weirdo. But actually, Sally will probably actually go find him pretty soon, as I can't have a vampire take over so if she's going to have a vampire baby it needs to be earlier in her reign.



And sure enough, Sally goes into labour that very night.
Sally: you were right, this isn't fun :(
Only a dozen or so to go after this, Sal!



Unlike Snow, Sally actually gets company for the birth - from Snow herself, who after all has nothing better to do. She shoots inside to check the doctor isn't a ghost/psychiatric patient this time.



Then forgets all about Sally and the birth and goes and gets herself a snack.



Sally: okay I changed my mind Mim can take over this stupid challenge.
Sadly no she can't. Get in the birthing machine.



Not like that, you idiot.
Doctor: Ma'am, please, this is very inappropriate.



Finally she gets settled in, and her doctor is indeed a ghost - the same ghost doctor that delivered Hiro, as it happens.



Of course, Sally manages to have a girl on her first try, and much too early in the challenge for her to be any use to me. Still, welcome to the world, Marie!



Marie is one of the three kittens of Duchess, in the Aristocats! I absolutely adore this movie, it's one of my favourite classic Disney films. Marie is also my favourite character from the film; she has the absolutely iconic line of "ladies do not start fights...but they can finish them."



Sally: thank goodness that's over and I can have a drink.



Actually Noe asked her out on a date, blissfully unaware he's a new father to a little girl named after an anthropomorphic cartoon cat. 



Naturally Sally uses the opportunity to meet other men, and Noe ends the date with the 'don't ever contact me again' message. Let's see if he actually moves on, unlike Snow's first conquest, Justin.



Sally also sneaks in a quick bit of collecting before home.



Ah Remy, you were such a cute kid and now you are...not cute. You did however get promoted to the top of your teen job, the first kid in this challenge to do so and get that point, so kudos!



The White household also celebrated Harvestfest around this time, but I only took really weird pictures. First, Charming getting zapped by a gnome.



Second, Cinderella walking her dog by the house (it's in the bushes somewhere) but not coming to visit. Cinderella lives in Del Sol Valley, so she was not just "in the neighbourhood", but apparently she didn't want to actually see her family on Harvestfest, just lurk weirdly in their backyard.



Finally Jack comes over for dinner and he and Sally hip bump. It was a strange holiday all round.



So when Mim and Juanita invite them over at the end of the day, most of the family head on over.



Snow finally starts to get to know Mim's girlfriend, Juanita, a bit better.



And Mim gives Charming tips on how to survive the insane childhood of a 100 baby challenge kid. Charming is actually knocking it out of the park, points wise, but a little extra help can't hurt.



Back home, Snow melts my heart a little by autonomously cuddling her first granddaughter, Marie. They might be a weird family, but they're a family <3



Possibly now they are even weirder. The 101 Disney Baby crew have moved house! Since Sally, the matriarch, is named after Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas, I thought a spooky house in Forgotten Hollow would be appropriate for her and found one they could afford in the gallery. During her time in charge Snow managed to accumulate about $75000 in total value, including the house and furniture, so that's what I was working with in choosing this place. It's far from ideal for a 100 Baby Challenge - only two bedrooms - but I choose aesthetics over functionality, so sue me. I replaced the small upstairs bathroom with two toddler beds, and wriggled a few kids objects into available nooks and crannies, and that will just have to do. Prepare for a very spooky and dark atmosphere for pictures from Sally's reign!



Also, I didn't realise non-vampire Sims can actually sleep in coffins too. Seems a morbid choice, especially since Facilier actually had other options when he decided to try it out, but hey...I guess I have a couple of extra beds.



I've never had a Sim live in Forgotten Hollow before. It's actually rather pretty. 



Jack swings by to congratulate his twin on her new digs.



If the rest of the family are perturbed to find themselves in gloomy Forgotten Hollow after bright and breezy Brindleton Bay, they don't show it. Remy invites Desirae, the cute girl he met at the park, around.



While he's flirting up a storm, Marie is sling-shotting herself out of the crib and becoming a toddler. The pink hair is courtesy of her father, Noe Fabulous, himself the son of celebrity Izzy Fabulous. Her blue eyes are from Sally.



Sally gets to work raising her very first child of the challenge, with marginally competent results.



Facilier is meeting the neighbours and looking concerned about it. Fair call, a lot of Sims around here are probably vampires, though he's not really living up to the voodoo master he's named after.



What's this...another young adult successfully raised? I am stoked we're getting rid of Remy, to be honest. He can go and live with Desirae and hope her genes override his in their kids. Remy rolls cat lover for his last trait - these kids are determined to keep passive-aggressive whining at me for a pet - to add to hot-headed and dance machine. I didn't write down his aspiration, ho hum. He did manage 11 points, the most yet of any child, after getting the responsible and compassionate traits.



Snow takes her picture with him and off he goes into the world. I moved him and Desirae in together but I've forgotten where I put them. They are in the world somewhere, though.



It was at this point I decided that I wanted to do more extensive character-themed makeovers for all the Sims born into this challenge. I didn't know you can take in-born Sims into CAS from the mirror (could you always do that?) but as you can, I decided to extend my makeovers to include things like skintone. I won't mess with their features, as I think genetics are fun and that takes away too much of the genetic mixing of the game, but Sally got her namesake's beautiful pale blue skin tone.



She also got some sweet stitched up face wounds, just like the real Sally! Who is a zombie, after all. I've never had a reason to use these before, which is why I thought this would be fun. We should start to see some blue kiddies come along, although as they'll get makeovers too, they won't stay blue in most cases.



It's a little jarring seeing Snow cooking in her daughter's spooky black kitchen.



Said daughter has taken her zombified self out for some more collecting. I'm stuck on getting one more crystal.



Charming continues to be an overachiever and finished his aspiration in record time!



So off he went to the park with Sally to get started on Rambunctious Scamp.



Sally is there to meet men, but first she found Loren! Loren is Simba's first love interest from way back at the beginning, Simba being Snow's first ever child, though he ended up just being friends with Loren and marrying Elena instead. This was fortuitous timing, because right around now the whole family got a phone call to say Simba had died :( I was really sad - the matriarch outlived her oldest son. The elder stage is much too short in TS4.



Remy is at the park too, without Desirae. Problems in paradise already?



Despite being crushingly sad about Simba's death, Sally did hit on a couple of guys half-heartedly, banking their interest in her for a later date.



Back home, Facilier epitomizes the family mood by reading about alcoholic drinks sadly in a dark corner.



We can't be sad for too long though, because Barley is a teenager, and I love him! Like Sally, he gets the works for his makeover, and in fact the same blue skin tone in honour of the character he's named after, from Pixar's Onward. I think I did pretty good with his outfit! And I love that he has a fairly solid build, similar to the real Barley. He's a spellcaster and he rolled Loves the Outdoors, plus he's an Extreme Sports Enthusiast. A pretty coherent personality, even? What did I do to get so lucky? Unfortunately Barley JUST missed out on his aspiration point, but he did get an A in school.



His first order of business as a wild teenager is to read his baby half brother to sleep...aww.



And we end the chapter with some wholesome gardening, since he likes the outdoors and I thought it would be a nice hobby for him.
And that brings us to the end of the chapter. Not a bad start for new head of the family, Sally!
