Welcome to my first Sims 4 Legacy Challenge! I tried legacy challenges several times on the Sims 3, and while I really enjoyed the format and a lot of things about the game, slow loading time and stockpiling glitches as the game progressed always killed my legacies before they could get any where near the end. I hope, with the greater simplicity and user-friendliness of the Sims 4, we might finally get somewhere.

This is a standard ten generation Sims 4 legacy following Pinstar’s rules and probably scoring, although I haven’t scored before so I’m not promising to keep up with it well.

Bloodline Law: Strict Traditional
Gender Law: Equality
Heir Law: Random
Species Law: Tolerant

The theme is Gods and Goddesses, with the corresponding family name of “Legend”. Read on to the next post to see this legacy get underway!

And where else to start a legacy, except by introducing a beautiful founder? This is Gaia Legend, my gorgeous green-haired, green-eyed pixie of a Sim. With her dusting of cute freckles and the cheerful trait making sure she's always smiling, I was genuinely so pleased with my sim creation skills this time around.

Gaia is named for the Ancient Greek mother earth Goddess. Gaia is the ancestral mother of all life, so I felt it was fitting my Gaia would be the ancestral mother of this legacy. I chose the Family-Oriented trait both because it was fitting for the Goddess Gaia, and because it's such a standard legacy founder trait! Loves the Outdoors was also chosen for the Goddess, and I picked cheerful because I wanted a personality, rather than skill, trait for her.

As per usual rules I moved her into the biggest lot and purchased a knight's armour set, which was promptly stashed in the family inventory. With just $1800 to her name I foresee a lot of lawn living for poor Gaia. Hopefully, being named for a literal personification of the Earth and having the Loves the Outdoors trait will serve her well.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Gaia begins her journey by fossicking in the park. When her hunt for frogs is unsuccessful I send her to the library to start meeting people, though.

Unfortunately the only young adult to make an appearance for ages is this extremely sour looking woman, Regan Lambert.

Gaia makes a valiant effort to get to know her anyway - I want her to be really sociable and active on community lots for this legacy. The point is to try as many aspects of the game as possible after all! But she is thoroughly snobbed by the boring librarian, despite my best efforts.

So the trip doesn't feel like a complete waste of time Gaia spends a little of her afternoon studying up on gardening. I've already decided she won't be getting an actual job because it feels appropriate for Gaia to spend her days tilling the earth and growing things, so she'll be a self-employed gardener. I really wish the Sims 4 had added this back in as an official gameplay option with Get to Work, like we had in the Sims 3 with Ambitions, but oh well. I know this will be a slow and difficult financial trajectory for my founding Sims, but I like the added challenge and I want to choose life-purposes that fit my Sim's names and personalities.

Fortunately for Gaia's dwindling social confidence, on her way out of the library for some fresh air she bumps into this delightful girl. Her name is Nina Caliente and she's dressed up for the Day of the Dead festivities happening in-game this month. Gaia and her hit it off and Gaia returns to the library, rejuvenated.

And....ding dong. Eligible bachelor alert! Well, all I know about him is he's a Young Adult and called J Huntington III. Son of a wealthy family, one must presume! Gaia interrupts his video game sesh to introduce herself, and promptly drags him to her preferred territory - the great outdoors.

Gaia: See? Isn't it great here?!
J: But...but...Call of Duty?  :(

Gaia makes up for interrupting his bro-time (she discovers his bro trait early on - I shudder but bear it, since he's cute) with food. Tofu burgers were an interesting choice though.

J: the fuck?
Gaia: lulz

Tofu burgers and all, though, J doesn't mind when Gaia makes a move on him. Gurl, dem bedroom eyes!

Just had to include a brief shot of the lawn living. Gaia's first night at home on her ridiculously huge empty field, in a bed under the stars. I wish there was a sleeping bag, it would look a tad less ridiculous, but I suppose it's legacy tradition!

The next morning Gaia decides an appropriate venue for breakfast is the Rattlesnake Bar.

Where she enjoys a healthy meal of alcohol...

And chips.

Then it's off to the gym to pinch a free shower (another legacy tradition, hurrah!) and who does she bump into (while in her towel) but J?

Put clothes on THEN take selfies, Gaia. Smh.

Meanwhile, I add a fridge to her lawn because while I like sending her scurrying around the world to scrounge free showers, entertainment, and even for the moment toilets, I don't want her to starve to death.

Spoiler alert, because I've played quite far ahead in this file already: she's going to get SO TIRED of yoghurt and cereal.

For now it's enough of a novelty that she poses prettily for Legacy Required Photograph #1231: eating cereal while sitting on the bed in the middle of the lawn.

At this point I decide I have to invest in Gaia's new "job" of living off the land sooner rather than later, because I'm burning through her paltry starting sum. I buy a planter box and her first packets of seeds.

Once they're planted our free spirit is back off to the park, where she learns that if she waits around long enough, someone ELSE usually cooks something on the grill which she can help herself to without having to pay to grill it herself. Thanks, Bob Pancakes! Nina is there in her non-festival attire, too, so they have a girly catch-up while eating Bob's food. He is not included in the conversation.

Later that evening Gaia puts on her big girl panties and invites J on a date. They head to her favourite bar, the Rattlesnake.

There's those bedroom eyes again. J doesn't stand a chance.

No chance at all! Gaia gets her first kiss with the handsome jock, and J looks surprised but happy about it.

...very happy about it. They PDA all over the bar but still only manage to earn a silver medal for their date.

After the date ends and J goes home Gaia stays behind for a bowl of chips - fast becoming a staple in her diet, they are. The guy next to her is quite cute but already an adult.

The bartender, however, is VERY cute and still a young adult. Gaia, who is apparently incorrigible considering J only just left, enjoys a brief flirtation with the mixologist (Damian) but soon learns he's married and gives up on that idea.

Back home, J phones to chat about their date. Gaia looks adorably happy about it (even if she had thoughts of hot married bar tenders on her mind 1/2 an hour ago).

And she finishes the day with a spot of gardening in her underwear. I splash out on a second planter even though she hasn't even started selling her produce and Gaia does genuinely enjoy getting back to simpler things, and watering her flowers.

Chapter two will be coming soon! Thanks for joining us.

Welcome back to Chapter 2 of the Legend Legacy! Gaia starts her day by dropping in to visit J at home. It took me forever to figure out where he lives because I expected him to be a total Mummy's boy, living at home in his parent's flash mansion, but as it turns out he's living in a nice but relatively modest four bedroom with three same-age roommates.

Gaia is introduced to them: this is Zoe Patel and Gavin Richards. She hits it off with Zoe in particular, who turns out to be a total sweetie.

The other roommate, Mitchell Kalani, turns up just as J and Gaia decide to get all hot and heavy on the couch. I hope, since they're all young singles, this kind of behaviour is pretty frequent and they're used to it!

Gaia helps herself to the Roomie's cereal, just for a change. I tried to have her bake some brownies but she got told off for being inappropriate. Quick meals are okay, anything else apparently is not.

Gaia invests some time in getting to know Zoe and Mitchell. If she wants to snag dudebro J as her boyfriend, it probably pays to get to know his bros. Gavin has disappeared to play video games though.

He and J soon return, though, and J starts making bedroom eyes at Gaia...

And they work! Gaia, it seems, is not going to be a "wait until marriage" kind of girl.

I hope this is actually J's bedroom. They tried the room with the pink bed first and Zoe summarily shooed them away - fair enough too!

Gaia stays the night and is given brownies for breakfast (someone must have finished the batch Gaia tried to start) and, in chatting with J a bit more, learns that he has the non-committal trait. UGH! Of course he does. I knew going for the local rich jock was a bad idea!

Fortunately Zoe remains cheerful and easy to get along with, and Gaia is soon well on the way to becoming friends with her. I wish I'd asked for her sugar skull here, because I haven't seen her in her Day of the Dead get up since this day.

Gaia gives J a kiss goodbye - it's time for her to get back to her garden - and Gavin looks on. Disgusted? Sad? Jealous? He's the only one Gaia didn't really get to know, which is a shame since he has the cute nerd look going on.

Back home, Gaia is surprised by a welcome party of her neighbours who come to check out her weird lawn living situation! This happened on day six of Gaia's gameplay life, so they're a pretty late party, but she does spend a lot of her time away from her lawn so perhaps that's why.

The neighbours are polite enough to pretend they don't mind Gaia's "house" and Mr Kim even sits down on the bed for a chat. Gaia gets absolutely no gardening done, but does eat some fruitcake that gives her a negative moodlet. Gee thanks, neighbours. That night, J calls and initiates a date, and that gives me hope for him despite his non-committal trait.

Gaia gets super dressed up of her own volition even though their date is at the same vaguely dirty bar, lol.

And then awkward white people dancing happens for ages.

Fortunately with some cute kisses to put that sad dancing effort out of my mind. Gaia also asks J to be her boyfriend and he agrees, yay! Perhaps his non-committal trait isn't a deal breaker.

Gaia goes back to J's place again after the date, helps herself to their cereal because no-one in this house ever cooks things apparently, and finally gets a chance to chat to Gavin who turns out to be Creative...and a bro. Poor girl is never going to get away from them.

J: hey so, sexy time?
Gaia: omg yaaaaas

What???! No! Get out of their room before they do the dirty, you perves! Mitchell never even looks up from his computer screen and Gavin just eats his yoghurt and stares at the wall. Weirdest legacy moment so far, I think.

After that awkward moment Gaia heads back home and into her garden, which by this point she has expanded significantly. She has started selling some produce fairly regularly by now, and I bought a couple more planters. I think four is about all one Sim can manage without the garden becoming really overwhelming, though, despite her having no other job to go to.

Gaia had also levelled up Gardening enough to be able to fertilise her plants so I sent her out to try her hand at fishing. She didn't bother to get dressed first.

Two different spots yielded zero fish, though Gaia doesn't look too worried about it.

At the third spot Gaia is shown up properly by this old lady...

But eventually she does manage to catch a single solitary perch. I'm glad she's happy about it, but this is taking much too long! She'll have to sacrifice some of her produce to fertilise the plants, I think.

And that's it for Chapter 2! Gaia has a boyfriend, but is he really husband material? Hopefully we'll find out soon!

Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! At the end of Chapter 2 we left Gaia, a failed fisherwoman, the girlfriend of handsome but commitment-phobic J Huntington III. He was the first eligible man she met, but will she try to make a serious relationship with an emotionally immature dudebro work, or will she look elsewhere for love?

She seems happy to see J when she first arrives back at the Roomie household. I sent her here to scrounge food, a shower and some TV time - what would happen to her relationships would be up to her.

Gaia has taken a lot of showers at J's place, and I have her try a bath too. I find it interesting that other Sims don't like it when she tries to cook or sleep here, but they're fine with her staying over as long as it's post-coital, and they don't mind her liberal use of their bathroom!

J and Gaia spend most of the day in bed (oo-er - it's a good thing Sim protection seems fail safe or we'd already have loads of legacy babies) and when they get up, Gaia thinks she's FINALLY going to get a hot meal! She's been eating yoghurt and cereal since her life began and she must be tired of it by now.

But...as it turns out, J was only cooking bacon and eggs for himself. Gaia is left to get yet more yoghurt out of the fridge for herself and as you can see, she looks less than thrilled about it.

Gaia: J! Why didn't you make me any breakfast?
J: aw babe, doesn't that make things seem kinda serious to you? I just don't know if our relationship is quite...there...yet.
Gaia: what, at the point where you offer me food when I stay over?
J: exactly!
Gaia: *silent fury*

After J heads off to work Gaia could have gone home, but I left her to her own devices for a while out of curiosity, and she watched TV for ages before doing...this.

Gaia! That's J's roommate and bro!

Gaia continued to flirt with Gavin and after a little consideration I rolled with it. Gavin is pretty cute too, and while he definitely has the bro trait...maybe he doesn't have the non-committal trait. Gaia is too busy playing tonsil-hockey to find out.
Gaia, are you sure it's wise to start a relationship with your boyfriend's roommate while you're pissed off at him?

Gaia: hey, so, Gavin, will you come on a date with me?
Gavin, who is clearly besotted and hasn't even considered what J is going to think of all this: of course!

This could be interesting.

Gavin promptly kicks J's ass in the feeding Gaia department, anyway.

Gaia and Gavin have their date in the park, Gaia's favourite place to be. He's incredibly sweet and romantic about it, and she discovers he has the Creative trait. There's still one mystery trait to go, and if it's non-committal I'm going to scream. They also earn a gold medal for this date, making it much better than her first date with J.

Hmmm.

They head back to Gavin's after a successful date for which they earn a gold medal, although my reward never appears in the inventory, boo. Things start getting hot and heavy pretty fast and before long Gaia is jumping into bed with Gavin. Incidentally, into the same bed she frequently jumped into with J. Apparently the roomies don't have assigned bedrooms, which is very weird and uncomfortable, but at least they don't have an audience this time.

When J comes home from work he seems to think it's a good sign that Gaia is already in her underwear. Oh boy.

But his delight turns to dejection when Gaia tells him she just wants to be friends.

Gaia: sorry J, but I'm a legacy founder and you don't want a serious relationship. I have to get married and have babies, and I know you don't really want that.
J: true, but...
Gaia: oh btw I'm dating your roommate Gavin now. Hope it won't be weird!
Mitchell: shoulda left the room...definitely shoulda left the room.

Gavin further cements his place in Gaia's heart by giving her the bacon and eggs she missed out on when J was too much of a giant man baby to risk cooking for her!

And finally Gaia checks with Zoe that the new dating arrangements aren't going to be a problem, but Zoe is totally unperturbed. She has only 'acquaintance' level relationships with both boys, but by now she's good friends with Gaia, so she supports her change in relationship despite potential household awkwardness. What a good friend!

And that brings us to the end of Chapter 3. Gaia dumped J for Gavin - the handsome jock for the nerdy writer. As a potential husband he's definitely the more sensible choice, but Gaia has proven herself an incorrigible flirt. Will she settle on Gavin once and for all?

Find out in Chapter 4!

Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! In the last chapter our founder, Gaia, dumped J and hooked up with his roommate Gavin instead. The real question, though...is he The One?

Gaia bites the bullet and immediately asks Gavin to move in with her. Gavin agrees, but he looks disgusted once he arrives!

Gavin: Gaia...where is your house?
Gaia: I'm a legacy founder, Gav. I can't afford a house yet. Why do you think I was around at yours all the time, using your shower?
Gavin: your bed is on the lawn.
Gaia: I know, isn't it great!?

For Gaia, who loves the outdoors, maybe it is.

Gaia: I bet I can make it great for you too, Gavin.
Gavin: .....alrighty then.

Gavin has also had a makeover, though a very subtle one. I changed his hairstyle but it's not dramatically different from his old hairstyle. I also changed some of his clothes slightly but left him in his cute nerd aesthetic, since it suits his personality. Things also got confusing timeline-wise this chapter because of how far I'd played ahead, so please excuse Gavin's appearance flip-flopping between old and new. I'll be back on track in the next chapter.

Despite not being a convert to lawn living, Gavin does start to make himself useful. They have a toilet and sink, but I refuse to buy them a shower when showers can be had for free at friend's places or the gym.

After Gavin goes to work - he came already employed as a Blogger in the Writing career track, which suits his aspiration of Bestselling Author down to the ground - Gaia heads to the desert park in hopes of a hot meal. She gets one courtesy of Summer Holiday.

Gaia: you're already a better partner than my ex.
Summer: what?

I send Gaia back home for some gardening but Zoe turns up out of the blue. Gaia doesn't mind - she's a social butterfly and looks thrilled to see her friend.

I have no idea why but Zoe is sad about something, which might have prompted the visit. She keeps showing heartbreak speech bubbles, so maybe problems in her love life?

Gaia comforts her and Zoe leaves looking happier. And also still not in her Day of the Dead garb. Grrr.

By this point Gaia's garden is looking pretty fabulous. She's making a small but steady amount of cash off selling the produce, although admittedly it's significantly bolstered by her collecting and wild harvesting. Money is still tight but at least they can pay their bills.

Gavin, meanwhile, goes straight from work to the library to start writing his first book. His daily career task switched from reading books to writing them, so it's time to get serious about working on that and his aspiration. With Gaia's career being so slow to bring in cash, we're going to need the bonuses that a real career awards when you get a promotion.

The next day, Gavin has the day off work so he spends the morning being cute with Gaia then asks her on another date to the park. No seedy bars for him - he seems thrilled to indulge Gaia's love of being outdoors and I think it's sweet.

They did spend some time getting food and playing chess, but to be honest these two make the cutest photo ops when they're being adorable. They are a ridiculously sweet couple.

After meandering down to the water they make out some more. For once Gaia doesn't have a horde of friends around her, and it's so quiet and peaceful and romantic...

And in case you didn't guess where this was heading, Gavin proposed! Gaia of course said yes (she's half way through her YA stage already, no time for playing the field more than she already has)! Plus her and Gavin seem like a great match, and he's handsome with a good job. What more could Gaia want for her husband and the first legacy spouse?

Gaia spoils the cuteness of this picture a little bit by looking as though she's going to woohoo with Gavin right then and there by the river, but it was a very sweet and thoughtful proposal nonetheless.

So, Gavin moved in and proposed within a few days, and we finally have a legacy relationship underway! Will the happy couple elope, or will Gaia insist on a proper wedding party despite their current poverty?

Stay tuned for Chapter 5 to find out!

Welcome back! When we left Gaia and Gavin they were newly engaged, and head over heels in love.

As per usual, whenever Gavin goes off to work in the morning Gaia sleeps in, eats more damn cereal or yoghurt, and then tinkers around in the garden or doing some collecting. She makes money slowly but surely this way and I decide, since she's my founder, she deserves a proper wedding rather than an elopement. I set a goal of saving $2000 for the wedding even though it will set me back on buying a house.

Gaia: don't mind me. Just fossicking for rocks in my knickers so I can afford a reception :)

Gaia then pops around to the Roomie's to catch up with her friends, and Gavin meets her there after work.

She spends most of her time watching TV and hanging out with Zoe. They're now great friends and Zoe still won't put her Day of the Dead attire on. Do Sims randomly stop participating in the event? Give me your sugar skull, Zoe!!

Gaia also makes some time for Mitchell, since she knows him least well of all of Gavin's old roommates. They never make it past acquaintances, though. I can only assume he also has the bro trait.

And behold, a hot dinner! I think Zoe made something for them here, though I took the picture too late. Macaroni cheese maybe? All the kids in this household are terrible cooks but it sure beats yoghurt or cereal. Gavin turns up in time to take advantage of a free meal, too, but sadly J is absent for the whole visit. He and Gaia are now best friends and he appears to hold no grudges with either her or Gavin over their past relationship.

The next morning, it's back to the library for Gavin. This is now his pre-work ritual and he usually writes, but occasionally reads, in order to progress his career.

Gaia, who leads a significantly more carefree life, is meanwhile invited to a teenager's birthday party. She met him briefly at the park one day, I think? His name is Cameron Nadeau, and she accepts the invitation but invites a bunch of her friends to come with her so she won't be the only young adult.

The place is crowded but Gaia uses the opportunity to catch up with Nina Caliente again. Apart from the occasional phone call Gaia had prioritised her friendship with Zoe over Nina, so it's nice for them to have a chance to reconnect.

The party is more or less a hit and Cameron ages up into a Young Adult. I don't remember anything about him to be honest, and Gaia isn't going to bother to work on her friendship with him. It was a nice party though!

That night, Gavin comes home from work and announces he's had a promotion.

Gavin: so perhaps we could put that bonus I earned towards buying a house? With a roof?
Gaia: um, no. We finally have enough for a wedding!!

Sorry Gavin, the lawn living continues.

As it happens Gavin has the next day off work, and a wedding party is hastily convened. I do some googling to figure out how to make weddings actually work on community lots, and quickly makeover the park to include a bar and a kitchen for the caterer. Of course Gaia has to get married at the park she spends most of her life at, and the same place she got engaged to Gavin. It just felt right!

There is a lot of awkward dancing.

The drinks are a hit though, and I'm glad I figured it out because you get stalled on a silver medal if you can't have drinks and food at a wedding party. I really need to do some tinkering in Manage Worlds to add more lots from the gallery, because I have my Sims spend a lot of time away from home so they would definitely use them.

Every single one of Gavin and Gaia's guests turn up, including J.

And there's grilled food in the park to honour Gaia's main loves in life.

Then, it's time for the ceremony. Can we just take a minute to appreciate how beautiful Gaia is? I adore this picture.

Obviously the game doesn't actually let you specify, but I like to think of J as the best man, since he's Gavin's old roommate and Gaia's first boyfriend and now best friend, and that he's completely cool with Gavin and Gaia's marriage.

#cuteweddingpicspam

After a wild day one of Gaia and Gavin's guests is so pooped he crashes out on a park bench. I think this might be Cameron. They earn their Gold wedding medal, and I'm keeping all rewards (instead of selling) to make the challenge a bit harder, so they'll come in handy for future weddings. Perhaps one day in the far future I'll be able to install a little at-home chapel for elopements!

Gaia and Gavin aren't too tired to officially consummate their marriage that night.

And that concludes Chapter 5. Gaia and Gavin are very happily married, making Gavin our first official legacy spouse. His proper introduction card is coming in the next chapter. How long before babies are on the way? And will Gavin ever manage to get a roof over his head?

Find out next time!

Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! At the end of the last chapter Gaia and Gavin had just thrown a really fantastic wedding party, with a beautiful ceremony attended by all their friends. They remain very broke, however, and are still lawn living with the absolute bare essentials. Now that Gavin has officially married into the family, here's his character card!

I think he's really handsome with his glasses, and he also has some pretty nice traits. Good choice, Gaia.

Also if you're wondering why the legacy standard shots of empty box rooms with no wallpaper or flooring are missing, it's because I loathe building houses myself. I've decided, instead, to go with gallery housing as and when my Sims can afford it. I picked the Cosy Starter Home for Gavin and Gaia to work towards - simple and functional but cheerful - so they need to save $14,500 before they can get off the lawn. After their wedding they're at about $1500, so...it's going to be a challenge.

Gaia: Gavin's going to kill me if we have to raise all our children as lawn spawn. Time to get collectin'!

To continue saving money, Gaia and Gavin are STILL showering at the gym most days. Neither of them ever bother working out, they just go for the free showers.

They're also still really cute. Gavin continues going to the library most mornings, and Gaia either stays home and gardens, goes out in the world to collect things, or occasionally even joins Gavin at the library until he has to go to work.

Gavin works on his books while Gaia plays games. Gavin now has three published books and is earning a little in royalties from them.

While at the park, Gaia suddenly starts to look a little....plumper! She and Gavin consummated their marriage on their wedding night, obviously, but I wasn't about to spend $15 on a pregnancy test so this is my first confirmation! She had been getting nausea moodlets for a while though so I had a fair idea.

Gaia stays at the park long enough after her pregnancy starts showing to enjoy this fellow's hotdogs, before heading home to meet Gavin.

Gaia: darling, guess what? You're going to be a father!
Gavin: oh Christ. We're still living on the lawn.

Gavin immediately heads back to the library to finish his latest book. He's desperate to buy a house sometime before his children reach adulthood.

Gavin: my firstborn will NOT be raised a semi-feral wild thing who has never slept indoors.

I doubt they'll save even close to enough before the baby is born, but maybe before it's a teenager? Poor Gavin! Gaia doesn't care, she still likes sleeping under the stars every night.

While Gavin is at work Gaia goes around to the Roomie household to tell her friends the big news.

Zoe is thrilled for her - future Godmother for sure!

Zoe then wins friend of the year award for cooking the poor pregnant woman some grilled cheese. Gaia is thrilled - it's a new meal for her. It's nice to have some variety from cereal, yoghurt and hotdogs!

Happily, J also comes home in time for Gaia to let him know she's pregnant, too. He looks a lot happier about it than Gavin did! But then, J doesn't have to raise a baby with no house.

J did this spontaneously. How freaking cute!

And so did Gavin, when Gaia got home to meet him after work. He might be panicking about having a kid when they're so poor, but he IS excited about being a Dad.

The next day Gavin is off work so he and Gaia spend the day at the library together. Gaia goes back to eating hotdogs (this child has not been subjected to an ideal pregnancy diet)!

As usual, wherever Gaia goes a crowd soon gathers. She's the most sociable sim I've ever played. I don't think she really got to know anyone here, but she did chat a bit to Summer Holiday - whose cooking she has nicked before.

Gavin is not nearly so sociable and usually is happy just working on his books, but he does strike up a casual conversation with this woman. Unlike Gaia, I don't think he has a flirtatious bone in his body though.

Back at home, Gaia is enjoying more cereal - what else - when she goes into labour. I decide a home birth on the lawn is a bit much for poor Gavin's nerves and send them off to the hospital.

Gaia: ooh. Ouch.
Gavin: OMFG

Unfortunately Gavin has to go to work and Gaia looks vaguely miffed about it as she heads to the birthing suite.

I absolutely LOVE the animation sequence that happens when Sims give birth at a hospital. Makes me laugh every time. Gaia looks much less pleased!

And....DING DING. Twins!! I didn't expect that! This is actually the first set of twins I've ever had in the Sims 4 and I am SO stoked it happened for my Legacy founder's first pregnancy. Meet Aphrodite and Artemis Legend - twin girls. I'll talk more about their namesakes once they grow up.

I'm not surprised, but Gaia is a wonderful mother. She spends most of the day cooing over the babies, feeding and playing them, with a bit of gardening in between.

And when Gavin gets home he's a great Dad, too, instantly helping with feeding. It's weird having the first legacy babies living on the lawn, but Gaia and Gavin are halfway to their savings goal and I hope to have the whole family in their house before the girls become teens. Wish us luck!

And to finish up Chapter 6 I just had to include this picture, because it sums things up so well. Gaia and Gavin looking totally fed up, sitting on their lawn bed, with two babies also on the lawn, eating yoghurt.

See you for Chapter 7!

Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! We left Gaia and Gavin trying to raise their children while owning little more than a bed and a toilet, which should be an interesting challenge. There is only one lawn living stage in any legacy and I'm enjoying it while it lasts, but I am also really looking forward to finally buying a house.

Gavin has just finished writing his fifth book and makes around $500 a day in royalties. It all helps, and he's also working nicely through his aspiration. At this stage he needs to write five excellent books to move on, and he's making good progress with that.

All work and no play makes
Jack Gavin a dull boy, though. Since we have no TV on the lot and Gaia is too busy to entertain him the, er, frisky way, the only thing I can think of is to send him fishing. At least he can sell the fish if he manages to catch anything - we're scrimping and saving every dollar at this point!

Gaia is also doing her part to earn the family some cash and her garden looks truly stunning now. She tends to make over $500 each time she sells produce from it now. The snapdragon flowers are her best sellers.

There's also a lot of baby care going on too, obviously. While it would be nice to have actual rooms so their crying doesn't wake their parents, they were relatively easy babies and didn't scream too often so it was bearable. There's definitely differences between babies on the Sim 4, though - Artemis cried much more often than Aphrodite, who rarely if ever cried unless her needs got really low.

Gaia and Gavin continue to eat at the park on a very regular basis, scrounging off whatever fool Sim coughs up the cash and the effort to actually cook.

And during one such meal Gaia meets the town hobo, who actually looks like a pretty nice dude. Gaia doesn't seem perturbed by his smell and continues eating happily.

Shortly after the twins are born Gaia and Gavin are both invited to J's birthday. I click "yes" to attend without even thinking about it - J is their closest friend after all - before wondering what will happen with the babies. I was DELIGHTED to find they are automatically put into daycare! What a huge improvement from the Sims 3 where you had to call and arrange care, then wait for the nanny to arrive.

J and Gavin immediately do this bro hug thing when they arrive. Lol.

Gaia: lol J you're gonna be old
J: you shut your mouth

This is the best picture I manage of J growing up but as is the norm he doesn't actually look any different so it's not a big deal. The best part is whatever the hell the caterer is doing in the background.

The next day Zoe drops around to see the new babies, and Gaia takes great delight in showing them off the her. This interaction made me laugh, it looks so awkward.

Gaia: see this thing? I made this thing.

Gaia: also this thing.

Zoe didn't interact with the babies outside of this, which was a shame. Gavin looks bored to tears with his cereal and I really can't blame him. I am going to savour buying an oven SO MUCH.

Gaia and Zoe take a quick selfie to commemorate the moment before they leave. This is another gorgeous picture of Gaia that I really love.

Sometime during Zoe's visit Gavin has his adult birthday. And I missed it completely! I am a terrible legacy controller. I wasn't going to have a party for either his or Gaia's adult birthdays, or the twin's child birthdays, because they're saving money. But I also couldn't have a cake baked because the don't have an oven. So Gavin was sad that no-one celebrated his birthday and the only picture I got was him moping in the garden.

The picture IS pretty funny though.

Gaia was originally the exact same age as Gavin but being pregnant seems to freeze Sim ageing and she's now a few days behind him, so hasn't had her birthday yet.

The twins have, though! Gavin is still pouting as Aphrodite grows up with...red hair?! Where on earth did that come from? Gavin has dark hair and Gaia has green hair...when I did her makeover I found out children don't have the same hair colour selection as adults, so maybe they can't inherit some colours. I'm curious to see what happens when she ages up into a teen.

Aphrodite after her makeover. She has a pretty interesting facial structure - she's not the prettiest child I've ever seen - but she's also not ugly. I like her in a tomboyish look. She rolls the Evil trait, and the Artistic Prodigy aspiration. I'm not going to be able to buy anything for aspirations for a while so I'm not sure how these girls will go with theirs, but we'll see.

My picture timing skills for Artemis' age up are even worse than they were for Aphrodite. I don't know what Artemis is doing here, but it sure doesn't look comfortable.

She's much more traditionally pretty than her twin, though. I leave her with the hair she aged into and give her blue clothes to match her sister. I think she's really quite cute. She got Gavin's dark hair and eyes, but Gaia's skin tone. I'm disappointed neither of the girls got Gaia's green eyes but I'm not surprised if it's the case that green is recessive to brown.

Artemis rolled the Creative trait, like her Dad, and the Social Butterfly aspiration. If she's inherited her Mum's outgoing nature she'll have no trouble with that one!

And we'll finish this chapter with a cute hug between the girls. Despite Aphrodite's evil trait they seem to get on quite well...for now at least!

See you soon for Chapter 8.
