Chapter 4.4: Quite the Clan

Welcome back to the Legend legacy! In the last chapter we battled glitches and bugs - in this, I remember just how much work a full household is, especially given I haven't played with toddlers in the game before now. I feel really quite stressed after the last couple of hours of gameplay! This is why I don't have children.

They're so worth it though, at least in the Sims. Loki and Sekhmet started autonomously playing so I was treated to my first experience of the cool magical animation and it's so cute I died. By the way, as with most things I randomised Sekhmet's toddler trait, and she's now fussy. Which sounds like it's going to be fun old time!

Cadence immediately pulls the Big Happy Family aspiration card out and is the first to (also autonomously) read to Sekhmet.

Loki, though, snags putting to bed duties (with another story). Toddler interactions are all, as expected, adorable and such a welcome addition. Isn't it so strange to think how long the Sims 4 went without any toddler phase?

Cadence, motherly hormones all stimulated and flowing from interactions with adorable littlies, promptly chooses that moment to give birth. We can't be giving ALL our attention to the toddlers this chapter, I guess.

I'm still wary of the hospital glitch I put Miko through and am unsure how the dodgy birth machines will respond to an alien, so Cadence settles in for our third (and last) home birth of the chapter! Yes, Hathor was in the crib next door, and Sekhmet was trying to sleep in the same room too. You can imagine how that went down.

Never mind, though - baby! As I understand it, babies will one alien parent LOOK alien as babies, but are actually always hybrids if there is one human parent, so her toddler genetics should be interesting. And yes, her! Our third girl of the generation (and EIGHTH of the extended family, with Jeff - Jeremiah's son - remaining the sole boy). Meet Bastet, named for the lioness Goddess of protection from evil.

Meanwhile, if we tear ourselves briefly away from all the babies, something strange has happened...
Okay, so Loki had a bit of middle-aged spread going on, right? So I had him working out to try and shed a few pounds, only what happened is he got THICC. He a CHUNKY BOI. He still had quite a stomach, plus all those muscles, and it was really weirding me out.

So I might have, maybe, dug around in my family inventory and found some slimify potions which Kali had made at work forever ago. He drank it and this happened.
Oh shit.

Well, I HAD been saving for the beguiling or good kisser rewards, but I grabbed an instant slim reward instead. I much prefer this scrawny look to either, er, the opposite of slim, or thicc boi from before.

Reassuringly, while Loki is messing around with potions and brews to change his shape, his oldest daughter is eating a giant bowl of clam chowder, alone, sitting in a puddle of water, next to a sparking broken dishwasher.
I'm sure it's fine.

Lucky we have Cadence who is, as predicted in an earlier chapter, stay-at-home Mum extraordinaire. She's quit her job to be home with the kids and is doing a great job of it, I must say.

I realise we haven't seen Miko really contributing this chapter, but she is there, I promise. She also has work and by the way has assumed the role of family mourner, taking over from Athena. But when she's not crying over the graves of Sims that visit almost every night, she's taking great care of her daughter.

Giving her baths...

And playing with her, too. Sekhmet's fussy trait seems to mean she cries a lot and constantly wants to be near Miko, though Loki is also preferred. She doesn't object to Cadence caring for her, but her whims and wishes mostly centre around Miko.

Not too long into Sekhmet's toddlerhood it's time for Hathor to join her, and let me tell you, this is where the house started to become quite chaotic to play.

Hathor is, potentially, even cuter than Sekhmet though! Same light red hair - Penny has dark hair, so this can only have come from Loki - but these lovely lighter brown eyes that are definitely Penny's. I can't wait to see what these kids look like when they're older. Hathor randomised the Wild trait, so combined with Sekhmet being fussy, I sense some hard times for the Legend household in the future!

Now, lest you think fatherhood has cured Loki of his lecherous ways, not only did he accept a date with Reiko when asked, he then proceeded to ignore her entirely to flirt with this very pretty girl at the bar they went to. Her name is Tanvi, which makes me suspicious...is she the Tanvi married to Jeremiah, only dressed up? I honestly can't tell, but as Lorna is here, and NOT Jeremiah, I also decide I don't care.

Loki gets his flirt on, and while he doesn't quite make it to his next kiss, he DOES manage to irreparably offend Reiko, who ends the date with "well that was great. Don't call me again, ever."
Fair enough.

Back at home, Hathor is being cute and absorbing everyone's attention.
Penny: and so Loki is your father, and Bruno is also your father but not in the same way, and I am your mother, and Miko is my girlfriend who is also kind of your mother, and Cadence and I are friends but she's your mother too.

Penny: Got it?
Hathor: wtf Mum

Bruno: yay, potty training!
Hathor: thanks.....Dad?

Loki: so see, it's a love triangle. Only there are five people so I guess it's not a triangle at all.
Hathor: okay......Dad?

Bruno: Honestly, I can see why she's confused. She looks more like me than anyone in this house.

Hathor: another one? Jesus Christ.
Miko: just call me Mum!

By this point, Hathor is looking pretty mad about the whole thing. Oh well! I'm sure she'll wrap her head around it eventually!

The two half-sisters don't spend that much time together, what with Hathor being passed around every adult in the house and Sekhmet gluing herself to Miko, but they do occasionally dancer together in their jimjams and it's just as cute as you'd expect.

Bruno: you know, this one also kind of looks more like me than Loki. Thank christ none of them have green eyes or questions would be asked.

Despite all the madness, Bruno continues to find time to work on his career and aspiration. He manages to finish the first stage of Body Builder, and nabs his first promotion. Miko is kind of stalled at work but doing okay, Loki has managed a promotion, and Penny finally managed to get the 10,000,000 followers she needed on social media to get a promotion at her next shift. Cadence, Bruno and Loki are making slow progress on their aspirations but I've more or less stopped worrying about Penny and Miko's.

Ooh, momentary flashback! Loki hasn't really played any music since Athena died, but he still has some skill so instead of mixing drinks all the time (all he and Cadence ever want to do when left to their own devices) he plonks away at the piano for a while. It's nice. He's nowhere near as good as his grandmother was, but he's not bad.

Finally, to end the chapter, I decide it's high time Loki and Bruno met some of their various relatives that I've talked so much about in past chapters. They swing by Karli and Uriel's house on a moody, overcast day (yes, Seasons is great!) and Loki has a quick chat with Uriel while Bruno introduces himself to their youngest daughter Journey.

Bruno: hey, I'm your....uncle. No. Cousin? By marriage?

Journey does not look convinced this random redheaded man in her house is actually related to her in any way, shape or form.

He has better luck with Karli though, who is happy enough to get to know him better.

Loki, meanwhile, introduces himself to their older daughter Arlene.

She's really pretty, with Uriel's golden eyes, skin tone and hair. I see Karli in her eyebrows and eye shape.

Next, it's around to visit Thor and Lorna, and it's raining by the time they get there. Loki hits it off with Lorna's daughter Caitlin.

And then with Thor's daughter, Sloane.

Well...uh...she sure is her father's daughter. Thor, if you remember, is insane. It might have been heritable.

She's actually a pretty cool looking kid though. I think her eyes are dark, and that's Thor's hair colour, but there's a lot of Haeju in her features.

Last but not least, a brief visit to the ever-dark Forgotten Hollow, and Odin's strange little coven. This is most of it, except for Lilith's brother and his child.

Loki hits it off with Kelley immediately. Sadly, I don't see any signs of her vampirism while here - it would have been cool to spy glowy purple eyes or something.

She's interesting looking, but not in a bad way. Another one to inherit blonde hair from Dad, and possibly also his dark eyes.

And there we have it! Loki and Bruno have met all the related children except Jeff, Jeremiah's son, and naturally they finished their flurry of family visits by having sex in Odin's bed.
Loki will always be Loki, I guess.
And that brings us to the end of the chapter! Will the household survive a third toddler being added to the mix? Will Loki get the last three kisses he needs for his aspiration without offended a family member in the process? Will he and Bruno ever be invited over to Odin's house again? Tune in next time to find out!
