Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! Soooo, long time no post, right? Let me start with a quick life update. At the time of my last chapter (March 2017) I had finished and recently submitted my doctoral thesis for examination. As of now (July 2017) I have had my oral defense, passed, made the minor edits required of me, submitted the final thesis, had my doctoral degree approved, upgraded my registration to Clinical Psychologist, gotten a job, moved to a new city, and now work full time as a Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychologist at a government-funded public health service.
Phew!
So I hope you will forgive me the long, long down time on Sims. Apart from life being crazy and amazing and busy, we all know the classic Sims binge/starve cycle, and there was some of that happening too. But, when I DO play, I remain committed to my lovely Legacy family, and in my severely reduced free time, I do still sometimes break out the old save file. Enough to bring another chapter to life, so without further ado...
In the last chapter the Legends checked out the city for the very first time, dabbled in casual drug use, still didn't meet any aliens, and Odin and Thor grew into teenagers. They now live in a big swanky house which is still in need of significant personalisation but which at least fits everyone pretty comfortably, and all three of the Generation 4 boys remain in contention for heirship. Let's see what they're up to now...

I need dolla, dolla, dolla is what I need.

And dolla is what I got, with Kali managing a promotion to Pioneer of New Technologies! Sounds promising, though no robot-suit upgrades as far as I can tell.

Sad lack of aliens aside I'm really happy with Kali's career choice and how she's going with it, so I decide she deserves a celebration for the latest promotion and send her and the whole family off to The Shrieking Llama. From left to right: Odin, Max, Kali, ???, Thor, Shiva, Janelle, Loki inexplicably wearing that stupid Christmas sweater. MUST do something about that.

Reunion for Shiva and Kali, who remain really close. They both have their own lives and families now but have remained in touch and spend a lot of time together, which I think is really nice.
Kali: so today I invented a satellite that can make the entire town have a dance party against their will.
Shiva: ....I painted a picture.

Odin tries his luck with getting his flirt on. I never wrote down this girl's name, so I can only assume he failed. Girl in the background with the tiny, tiny shorts is upsetting and distracting.
All in all a good time is had, nothing particularly momentous occurs though. Back home with you!

Max: hey, so Creator. I mastered the painting skill.
Me: you WHAT
Max: yeah, I know you didn't even realise I was getting close but here we go.
Me: I LOVE YOU
This is our seventh maxed skill for this legacy. As a quick reminder, the others are:
Gardening (Gaia)
Mental (Kali)
Piano (Athena)
Cooking (Ophelia)
Violin (Athena)
Creativity (Loki)
Not too shabby, I reckon!

The money from Kali's promotion also lets me makeover the teenage retreat bedroom, and it looks bloody fantastic if I do say so myself! The intention is for these rooms to be permanent now, with no need to swap between child and teenage furniture and aesthetic.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Legend Legacy post without a few of the family ghosts dropping by and being deeply unimpressed with their descendants in some way. That's Athena heading down the stairs, absolutely furious, and a sad mopey Gavin floating by the computer.
I guess they cheer each other up though? Two neutral ghosts hang around for the rest of the night. I love love love my family ghosts, it's one of my favourite parts of the game. I can't wait to see if they'll interact with toddlers once I finally get some in this legacy.

And by the way, Athena is still epic, even in the afterlife. Just look at her. Amazing.

Rare sibling bonding moment. The currently unused elder's room is apparently the best place for homework, according to Thor and Loki.

After homework, both boys reward themselves with social fun times, but here I have a confession to make. I played this section of the game ages ago. Like, months ago. I do not remember who this girl is or how Loki met her. All my notes say is: Laila visits (pretty)!! Hmm. Cryptic.

Meanwhile I have no notes at all about this guy, what his name is, or how he knows Thor. The mystery deepens. I swear I will take better notes next time I play!

Not to forget Odin, who spends some time skilling with his Mom. Of the three boys, he's definitely closest to Kali, which is funny considering he was super close to Max as a child and they've drifted apart a little recently. Probably because all Max does is paint to try and afford more cool shit for the house.

Thor: dead grandma is cool :D
Athena: my favourite grandson is the crazy one :D

Ghost selfie!

Actually, this generation, the kids actually have pretty decent relationships with each other too. Thor and Odin are closest to each other but the childhood animosity between Thor and Loki has pretty much faded. In fact, Loki's mean trait rears its ugly head MUCH less than it did when he was younger and everyone gets along better as a result.
Recognise that cool painting Ophelia pulled out of nowhere back in the old house, up on the wall? God it's cool.

In the interest of long-term decision making, I start trying to untangle my currently impossible heir decision by sending the oldest of the boys - Loki - out to a karaoke bar to see who he can meet. He has the Serial Romantic aspiration and I want to get started on it anyway, plus more importantly potential future spouses can help heir decisions.

Phew!

He has the Serial Romantic aspiration and I want to get started on it anyway, plus more importantly potential future spouses can help heir decisions.

While he's out Loki gets a call from Diana - one of Max's sisters, and therefore his aunt - asking him out for a drink. This is weird. They spent some time together when he was a child but not very much and they have very little in the way of a relationship. Still, it's family and it's social, so I send him along...

...this is happening in the background though. Lady why.

Creepy.

Weird drink with the weird aunt and possessed woman over, I figure Loki might have a lot more fun just being young, footloose and fancy-free in the city.

Tabitha: I would be a GREAT legacy spouse
Loki: nopenopenopenope
Yeah, I follow Dan and Phil's sim gaming on Youtube. Sorry Tabitha, you are forever married to Dil in my head.
Also, in the foreground. Someone needs to ban those shorts, jesus.

Something cool does happen while Loki is in the city, though - the Romance Festival!
Relationship guru lady: you will meet a tall, handsome stranger very soon.
Loki: yes pls

Loki: let's hope this fruity drink summons tall handsome strangers because literally everyone at this festival is attached. Or old.

Later, at home...
Loki: tall handsome person failed to appear so I summoned one from the internet. Romance festival is bullshit, if you want something you need to get it for yourself.

Actually, story telling aside, this is Bruno and he's another person who I haven't the faintest clue how Loki knows him. Obviously he does though. My notes for him:
Loki invites Bruno over (holy gorgeous)!
Well, four months ago me isn't wrong.

Seriously. He's good looking. Shame he's a redhead, I wanted more genetic variety than that, but hey - Loki needs lots and lots of boyfriends and girlfriends. Loooots and loooots.

Gaia: don't mind me, I'm in a helpful ghost phase. I'll return to kicking the trash can over and breaking all the plumbing in due course.

The following morning Thor is chirpy - very bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Kali hangs with him a bit before work. She's a great Mom, very involved with her kid's lives even as adolescents.

She's also a hard worker, still clawing her way to the top of the Scientist career track and waiting for alien opportunities.

I thought the satellite might do it but alas, no luck yet.

She's even starting to look bored with coworker torture via magic space gun. Surely, if nothing else, she'll get to build the rocket soon???

She's not the only one working hard, either. Odin gets a job in retail, and Thor gets a job in fastfood. I haven't had my teens get jobs so far and it felt like time, not least of all because this swanky house comes with expensive bills and I also wanted to makeover more rooms...

And so I will leave you with this, the madeover children's bedroom. Cute, right? There will eventually be a separate nursery for babies and toddlers attached to the master bedroom, so this one is furnished only for kids. I'm pretty happy with it too!
And that brings us to the end of the chapter. Will Bruno sweep Loki off his feet? Will I ever remember who the hell the other people are they keep inviting over? Will I keep getting lucky with friendly ghosts? And how am I ever going to pick an heir??? Tune in next time to find out!
