avaricesims Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! I hope everyone had a wonderful start to the new year. May 2017 be better than the hot mess that was 2016! Or, if your personal 2016 was fabulous, may 2017 be even better. I am in the home stretch of writing my doctoral thesis with tentative aims of wrapping it up within a week, but I am using my one and only remaining day off to get caught up with the Legends.
Not gonna lie...those toddlers got me all inspired!
It'll be a while before the Legend family have a teeny tot in the household but even so, what an update, amirite?! I honestly thought toddlers, if they came at all, would be part of a Generations-style expansion, so to get them for free is a fabulous surprise. Anyway, while I am glorying in Sims heaven at this announcement, the poor Legend family are in mourning again, having lost Generation 2 heiress Athena in the last update...
It's sad...so sad...
It's a sad, sad situation *epic piano solo* (Elton John now narrates my legacy, guys, it's awesome).
Being sad is no excuse not to go to work, though (no such thing as bereavement leave in the Sims 4, at least not for my Sims!) so Kali does her sad shuffle outside for a collections day.
She still does the cute little happy dance they always do when they find a capsule though! She goes right back to being droopy right after, which is annoying because it takes her ages to walk around the science lot to look for things.
The next day, Max has work but it's the weekend for everyone else, so Kali and Shiva meet at the Oasis Springs park for some quality family time. After Athena's passing it seems right to spend time with family. Shiva brings his daughter, Karli.
Shiva and Kali are so close, it's lovely. Also excuse the photo fail, shoulda put the roof on the buildings...oops!
Odin: idk why we're here when Grandma just DIED :(
I know, taking her substantial income with her. Believe me, we're all grieving.
Kali: cheer up Odin, I'll play a sea monster for you.
Odin: this is a spaceship.
Kali: ...an outerspace sea monster then.
Odin: can't you just play an alien?
Kali: well, it says I can, probably, but as they only made one set of animations for this interaction, it's gonna look an awful lot like I'm a sea monster.
Kali: this is my...alien face. Alien. Not sea monster. Definitely not a sea monster.
Ayyyy, Jeremiah showed up too!
A day at the park isn't enough to make Kali forget her mother just died, though.
Kali: Mom loved parks.
Ahhh, that she did. Memories.
Okay, so I realise from the previous photos it looks as though Kali bought Odin to the park but inexplicably left her other children behind. She didn't, but they both needed to pee and for reasons known only to themselves, they chose to do the pee shuffle for thousands of kilometres across the entire park to some far flung restroom, instead of just using the toilet near the playground.
You two are idiots, you know that?
Meanwhile Odin, who is apparently the brains of the family, autonomously used the closer toilet and had plenty of time to hang out with his cousin and play as a result.
Why so sad, guys?
Loki and Thor: we spent the entire day waddling to a toilet and now we have to go home right after we finish these burgers. Also, grandma died.
Odin: Grandma DIED, I'm too SAD for this burger! Also to spend time with my idiot brothers, as I am clearly the superior sibling and have not been pictured with them once this entire park visit.
Back home...the mourning is ongoing. Kali does this autonomously...Kali, I swear to God if you take over Athena's habit of excessive family mourning, I will set you on fire myself. You've given me three potential heirs, your main job is done. Don't test me.
You know, given that Max actually witnessed Athena dying, he's definitely the least affected family member again. He had okay relationships with Ophelia and Athena before they died - not awesome, but fine - and he was briefly sad before getting back to his normal self. When you have a house full of mopey Sims it's pretty nice having one, at least, being his usual laidback cheery self.
Max: boy, that painting sure was dangerous. I seem to have set the canvas on fire somehow.
Anyone else getting this amusing glitch? Sometimes my Sims look like they've narrowly escaped dying in a fire, or get absolutely filthy, even though they haven't been in a fire or their hygiene needs are green. Having a bath fixes it. Whatever, EA, you strange.
And hey! It's Max's adult birthday! Kali is there to cheer him into the next phase of his life...
His sons are there too but much too busy sadly dancing to celebrate their Dad's birthday. Aww, kiddos. You do make me lol.
Max: aw yeah, still got it. Also I got promoted to Imaginative Imagist, go me.

That night, Kali looks sad while eating dinner so Max flirts with her to cheer her up. He does this all the time, being a romantic Sim, and it's very sweet.
Max: hey gorgeous, I bet a roll in the proverbial hay will cheer you up.
Kali: oooh Max, you flirt, let's go.
Loki: Scarred. For. Life.
Gavin: who kicked this trash can over? How rude, hmmmfph, kicking over my trash can.
Gavin: I'll just fix this since nobody else in this house seems to want to bother.
Okay Gavin, thanks, but a) not your trash can anymore and b) you may want to have a chat with your wife. She and that trash can have had a complicated and often violent relationship since she died.
What's this? Back at the park, again? A different park, yes, but didn't we do a park trip this chapter already?
Look...there aren't enough unique places to take children in this game right now, okay? We need Seasons like, so bad. And we want the Legend children to be friends with all their distant relatives. Stop judging me!!
You'll recognise Aron's son Jeremiah, of course. The blond is Jeremiah's twin, Loren, who I thought was a girl but who clearly is not a girl. Turns out Aron had twin boys too, just like Kali, though Kali had a single first (Loki).
I absolutely love these two, as it happens. Apollo was super unattractive but he and Kimberly did good in making Aron, who is a very interesting but attractive looking Sim. And Aron has matched nicely with Elsa to produce Jeremiah and Loren. The twins got her blue eyes and they're just beautiful. They also look quite different from each other, which is wildly unfair given the Legend's cloning issue.
Karli: look at me! I'm a cute Legend relative too!
I see a lot of Shiva (and therefore Athena) in Karli. All of the related children of this generation are fabulous and I will be poking my nose into their lives, no doubt, as they age and grow.
Kali: arrrgh I'm an alien!!

Kali: sea monster!! Arggghhh!!
Odin: omp how terrifying!!!

As per usual there is grilled food at the park (can't have a park afternoon without charred meat or meat substitute).
But in a throwback to the lawn living days of Gaia Legend, it's stolen grilled food the family indulge in! Also, recognise the guy in the stupid hat? It's Lucas Munch, who I briefly considered as a love interest for Kali. He was in her homework club and is now in the Spaceheads, too.
(No idea who the random hobo in the background is, he's not the one I was interested in).

Handsome hobo is handsome, which I'm only just noticing now as I insert the pictures for this chapter. Goddamnit, shoulda paid more attention to who he was when I was playing!
The day is rounded off with some fishing and uncle-nephew bonding between Odin and Shiva. Nothing is caught, but bonding is had, which I love for this family. It's cool how often they see and spend time with Shiva and his family.

As it turns out, Wolfgang Munch. Lucas' brother! It's at this point that I decide I've worked hard to progress the lives of many Sims related to the legacy family, but none of those Sims are marriageable so my DNA pool is shrinking overall. Lucas and Wolfgang seem to possess some excellent genetics worthy of making their way into the next generation though, especially since Lucas has been friends with Kali for so long.
I played the two brothers, who live with an older relative, for about two or three days in game. Wolfgang turns out to have a challenging combination of traits and while he progresses some romantic relationship with Death (yes, Grim himself) I give up on that idea because it's too much work for a Sim I'm not going to continue playing. Lucas, though, meets and quickly falls pregnant to Kristopher Schular, an uber-cool DJ kid.
Also, I swung briefly by Shiva and Janelle's place and by the time I left Janelle was pregnant again too. Yay!
Back at the Legend household life is slowly returning to normal. The boys are arguing and we now have enough dead ancestors that we're often getting more than one ghost out at a time. Tonight it's Gaia and Ophelia.
Loki: my little arsehole senses are tingling
Loki: ohhh yeaaaa ohhh boy I feel a need to be horrible to someone
Thor: oh God. Everyone back slowly and quietly out of the room, and don't make eye contact.
Aww. While their grandsons and great-grandsons argue, Ophelia and Gaia are becoming friends!
And we finish with Max's latest masterpiece. As you can see, he is definitely the talent of a generation /sarcasm. Nice to know some things don't change!
And that brings us to the end of the chapter. Athena's death was a shock for the family but they're moving onwards and upwards. The whole extended family is close to one another and overall, life is good for the Legends bar unavoidable ups and downs. Will the boys murder each other before adolescence? Will Max ever paint anything decent? Will Kali finally meet a real alien and realise it's rude and uncalled for to impersonate one at the playground? Tune in next time to find out!
