The Legend Legacy 3.4: Goodbye, My Lover

avaricesims Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! In the last chapter Kali had a very rough pregnancy followed by the safe arrival of baby Loki, the first child of Generation 4. Athena also aged up into an elder, sadly missing out on a birthday party, but at least the family achieved plenty of promotions so she can cry on a pile of money.
Jog, Kali, jog! Gotta shift some of the baby weight.
Oh hai Shiva! He drops around almost daily, which is nice.
Kali: that jog made me smell :( pay attention to me and fix it!!
Shiva: I sense a disturbance in the force. And a smell of sweaty person.
Ophelia is always happy to see her son :)
Shiva doesn't venture inside while his sister is fixing herself up, but Ophelia stays out with him and challenges him to a game of chess. Gotta get dem skills!
I guess Shiva agrees, because when he decides it's safe to head inside he helps himself to use of Max's easel. A bit weird, since Kali and Max are asleep in that room, but as Gavin is in there too I suppose he thought he'd make it a party.
Gavin is feeling sad tonight and he takes it out on Max for some inexplicable reason.
Gavin: who the hell are you? You're not the blond man I was talking to before. What have you done with my grandson, imposter?!
Max: what the hell? I'm married to Kali, you mad old coot.
Gavin: oh, there's my grandson :) All is well!
Everyone is a fan of Shiva, he's very popular in this household.
Loki is still around too, obviously, just hanging out in his bassinet as babies do.
This time around the grandparents are alive to help the heiress and her spouse with the childcare! Gaia and Gavin both died before their grandchildren were born, so this makes a nice change.
Max: so, Loki is pretty cute. Want to make another one?
Kali: heck do I ever!!
Ophelia: please don't talk about your sex lives in front of me D:
Ophelia: our daughter is currently screwing her husband a few rooms over. I say we have our own party in here, wifey.
Athena: yissss!
Both: granny woohoo is mediocre and disappointing :(
I don't like that elders always get an embarrassed moodlet from woohoo, Athena and Ophelia would have active and exciting love lives, age being no barrier, thank you very much.
Athena: I'm feeding you while Mummy and Daddy make you a sibling. Taking advantage of granny, don't you think? Fan-bloody-tastic.
Someone...maybe Nataly Sweet, Janelle's sister? - invited Ophelia out to the "raging party" at this cool Windenberg nightclub. She's getting on in years, is our lovely Ophelia, so I sent her out for what might be her final swan song.
As you can see, it's totally going off in here /sarcasm.
Oh wait, just needed Grim to turn up so the party could really get started. Obviously. Can't believe I forgot.

So Ophelia enjoyed her wild night out - still a party animal, even in her old age. Back at the legacy house Max managed a promotion to Watercolour Dabbler, which apparently is a very dangerous and messy profession that requires head to toe protection, including serious boots. Who knew art was so risky?
Kali: hi readers! Just wanted to let you know that I've started showing. Max and I managed to get pregnant again on first try. I hope this pregnancy is a little easier than my last one!
Kali: *hurls* bllllaarggghhhlll. Nope, not easier.
Athena: I just cleaned that toilet!!
Yes. Now go clean it again pls.
We head into work with Kali again because she has quite the list of breakthroughs now, but she just keeps getting directed to invent hover lamps and perpetual motion thingies.
She did get to make a serum that cures illness, though (snake oil serum hurr hurr) and she pockets it for later testing. If it works and doesn't kill some future test subject, I may even let my Sims use it to cure their illness sometimes.
Kali: bllluururrrurrugghggh.

Back at home...
Ophelia: chess by yourself is lonely and a bit weird. Athena?
Athena: coming dear! Just have to feed the baby.
Athena is sick again, this time with the tiger stripes that make her uncontrollably giggly.
Athena: *is crazy*
Gaia: I thought my grandson, Shiva, was the insane one?
Gaia is here again! This time in a nice neutral mood, so hopefully she won't abuse the trashcan tonight.
Ophelia: okay, let's play!
Athena: but....chess is hard and boring :( How about you play while I flirt with you?
Ophelia: ...how will that help me?! I'll play with Gaia instead.
Gaia: cool, I like chess.
Athena: my mother is deeeeeaaaad! *sobbing*
Gaia: it's fine dear, I haunt you every second night or so! It's like I never left!
Gaia is literally right there, in the same picture, while Athena is mourning her. RIGHT. THERE. And if you think she might have been mourning Gavin instead? NOPE. She was mourning Gaia, I checked.
Ophelia: I don't feel so good.
Gaia: oh jesus christ on a cracker, I hope they don't think I had anything to do with this...
You know who you should have been paying attention to, Athena? YOUR WIFE. WHO HAS JUST DIED ON THE FRONT PORCH.
Athena: omg
Kali: omg

Max: this food tastes bad :/

Okay, so I joked before, but I am sad for Athena :( Ophelia was her true love and soulmate, in every sense of the word. They barely spent a day apart since childhood.
Athena: *stares at Grim in horror*
Kali: *sobbing*
Max: hey guys have you noticed, there's a weird dude in a robe on the porch :0
Ophelia's tomb stone is moved out the back, near Gaia and Gavin's. Once I buy the new house I'm contemplating either a mausoleum or a fenced graveyard, but this will do for now.
Grim: getting a little collection going here, nice. I done good work with this family so far.
Kali: omg leave you monster!
It was with great fondness that we farewell you, Ophelia. You were Athena's soulmate and one true love throughout your life, and you loved her just as deeply in return. You were a good mother to Kali and Shiva and a wonderful grandmother to Loki and Karli. Like Gavin before you, you spent more time making money for the family than working on your own goals, and didn't manage to complete your aspiration. But you achieved a great deal nonetheless and Athena will miss you terribly. I'm sad your green eyes didn't make it to the next generation, but I think Kali can thank you for how gorgeous she is!
Athena: at least I have my grandson to remind me that when there is great loss, there can still be new life and great joy.
Kali: omg that's so sad. Also, please don't give my baby the giggle disease.
Kali: *lip wibble* As per usual, the household descends into deep mourning following the death of a loved family member. Athena is particularly hard hit but Kali is really sad too.
Only Max is relatively unaffected. He's gets a 2+ sad moodlet, having known and respected Ophelia, but that can easily be wiped out by other happier moodlets. In contrast Kali has a +5, and poor Athena has a total +9 in sadness! Max is a sweetheart, though, autonomously serenading Kali to try and cheer her up.
And though death is inevitable for every Sim (when ageing is turned on, anyway), life must go on too. Loki springs from his crib a fully formed child, because EA still won't give us toddlers *glares*
(I have been re-reading Chim-Chim-Cheree, that famous Sims 3 rainbow legacy. It was the first legacy I read that inspired my love for this type of Sims story/gameplay, and it's making me miss toddlers a lot).
But at least Loki is cute!!!
SO. DAMN. CUTE.
I don't want to get too excited because Apollo was cute as a child but grew into a hulking, frightening teenager. And Shiva was a bit odd as a child but grew up handsome af. But omg Loki is adorable and right now I just loooove him. Kali's brown eyes (because I am apparently stuck permanently with brown eyes - Max has lighter brown eyes so there'll be no drastic changes this generation) though actually Loki's eyes are so dark they're nearly black. And Kali's red hair, which I'm really happy about - I was hoping for a redheaded boy this generation. The rest of his features I'm not sure about yet, I'll have a better idea when he's a teenager.

Loki also rolls the Mean trait, which is so perfectly fitting I want to hug him, and the Artistic Prodigy aspiration. A mean Sim is a new one for me, exciting! Overall, what a fantastic way to usher in Gen 4. Welcome to the family, Loki!
So Ophelia is gone, but in the legacy household time marches onwards and new lives emerge. Will Loki have a new brother or sister soon? Will Athena cope with the death of her soulmate? Tune in next time to find out!
