avaricesims Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! In the last chapter the oven kept catching on fire, Minerva and Bernard spent time with their brood of grandchildren, and Miach and new wife Meaghan welcomed their first child to the world - a girl called Inari.
Naturally this was the first thing to happen as we opened up a new chapter. The oven has caught on fire so many times they have to call up a pregnant firefighter who should probably be on maternity leave to rescue them. I finally figured out that a fear of fire causes things to catch on fire more often (go figure) so Bernard downed a Fear-Be-Gone potion immediately, and there hasn't been a fire since.
Meaghan also saved the bank account by magicking the oven back to full working order. Having a witch in the household is useful!
Upstairs, Miach is fully embracing the role of a parent to his newborn daughter. He's wanted to be a Dad since he was a teenager, and it looks to be living up to expectations!
Bernard is also enjoying being a more hands-on Grandpa this time around.
While Minerva continues to enjoy introducing her older grandchildren to her hobbies, taking Daikoku and Nathaneal to the park in Oasis Springs for some fishing. She's finally lost the workaholic lifestyle and embraced her retirement from her astronaut career, though she continues to tinker with her rocket from time to time.

Since they're at the park anyway, Minerva called Bernard to come and break open the secret passageway in Oasis Springs park, making the most of his maxed Handiness skill while he's still around.
Then, once Daikoku and Nathaneal have returned home to Del Sol Valley and Sulani, respectively, she heads off to explore. No new fish on this trip, but at least now the Forgotten Grotto is open for future visits.
Back home, Meaghan has had a promotion, and her satisfied photo also shows why the family headed to Oasis Springs for a break from the winter snow!
She's home for New Year's Eve, and some of the extended family are around. This is her chance to show off the first infant of the Legend Legacy - Inari is growing up!
She's a cutie! And a calm infant, so that should be nice for a first go.
Once Inari is settled upstairs again, the Legend family enjoy Bernard's cooking for New Year's Eve - even Ceridwen, the latest family vampire.
Then they all gather in the newly decorated lounge for the countdown. Happy New Years!
Then it's upstairs again for grandma Minerva to feed Inari. I've been seeing a lot about how hard infants are to care for; I think legacies might be ideal as you often have grandparents around to help out. This made caring for Inari very manageable. Also check out the newly made over nursery!
Without grandparents to help out it would be very hard for Meaghan to do things like head to the magic realm for an afternoon. She needs to win three duels; unfortunately, she's not very good at them and lost every time on this particular visit. She did learn how to set things on fire however - not a power that the Legends really needed!
While Meaghan is practicing her magic, Miach isn't left out in escaping the house and leaving Minerva and Bernard in charge of Inari. He meets Gwydion, Mabon, Morrigan, and Daikoku for the Humor and Hijinks festival.
The child is wisely left out of the getting stoned part of the evening.
But he does enjoy watching a comedian with his uncle Gwydion!
Don't think that childcare is all the grandparents are up to, though. Minerva finished upgrading the rocket she received as a perk of her astronaut job (my work considers it a very nice perk to give me a carpark, I feel like they could take notes) and headed out to Sixam.
While there, she bumped into her daughter in law and Mabon's wife, Jewel, looking sad. They're letting you leave again, right?
She collected a few things, including a couple of alien plants for the plant collection and some dead aliens, then had to use the wormhole to get back as her rocket was nowhere to be seen.
One might never guess Minerva had just spent an afternoon on an alien planet. She was home in time for afternoon tea and a chat with the family.
And also to help Inari discover she likes pumpkin puree and avocado, but LOVES oatmeal. Cute!
Proof Inari's own parents sometimes do the parenting. She met a fair number of milestones, including rolling over and sucking her toes, though I know from not being able to give her anything but baby food that she never mastered the 'pincer grasp'.
Then it's back to the care of her grandparents for her toddler birthday...
...while her parents make a second baby! After the seven kids of Miach's generation we're definitely going to tone it down this time, but I'd quite like him and Meaghan to have three kids.
Inari achieved top notch infant so all that grandparent attention seems to have paid off. From being a calm infant she transitions into being an independent toddler - kid seems intent on making life as easy as possible for her caregivers, bless her.
She seems to like bath time!
Then it's back to the magic realm, where Meaghan manages to win one duel and learn a new spell in the process.
Minerva tags along to fish. Nothing new, but worth it for the pretty scenery.
Once she's home she nabs a promotion on a paid day off to tackle burnout (I didn't know that could happen!) and starts indulging her maker trait with the fabricator the Legends bought back when Flora was experimenting with it. Meaghan relocated it inside and made over the adult activities room. All her industrious work on magic, making, and work led to a new trait - Overachiever! Sounds about right.
Not to be outdone, Miach got promoted to Bodybuilder, and also taught his daughter to talk.
Bernard gets to do the bedtime stories though. The Legends are really looking like a super functional, normal family, huh? Considering their history things have really settled down these last couple of generations!
Just don't look out the window at the raging werewolves that like to lope past the house most nights.
Back to wholesome normalness. For Love Day, Miach and Meaghan head to the Festival of Light in Mt Komerabi on a date.
Meaghan lets Miach know the good news during the date - she's pregnant for the second time! Miach is delighted.
They spend the afternoon eating street food, making wishes, and cozying up by the bonfire as they watch the fire dancers. An easy gold date!
Bernard's habit of wearing no clothes persists, and gets a little uncomfortable when hugging family. But Morrigan doesn't seem to mind...they all know Bernard's life is coming to its end.
Because of his Masterchef aspiration his food doesn't spoil, so Bernard has been cooking up a storm so the family are well-stocked once he's gone.
Sure enough, one evening not too much later, his time comes.
Unintentionally very funny mourning scene. Meaghan was in a flirty mood, despite the death, because Miach was in the room. So she cried into Grim's sleeve, then when the rest of the family left introduced herself to Grim flirtily - which he responded to positively. Despite literally witnessing Bernard's death, she had absolutely no sad moodlets after his death, either.
So let's wrap up this chapter with Bernard's final pictures. Another good spouse, who worked away in the shadow of the charismatic and hyper-successful Legend heir but didn't seem to mind. He raised seven children and had four grandchildren at the time of his death. He spent most of his life angry due to his hotheaded trait and was utterly plagued by fears of all kinds, but never let that explode his heart, so good for him.
And that brings us to the end of another chapter! Will Minerva ever slow down and enjoy her retirement? Will the raising of another infant go as well with only one grandparent to call on? Will Meaghan pursue her secret crush on the Grim Reaper? Tune in next time to find out!
