Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! In the last chapter Luna got purple hair but alas, still no chin, Flora got into Foxbury and moved out with her boyfriend Dorian to start their normal, non-legacy lives together (lucky thing), and Kaori may have been involved in a Sims rights scandal at work.

The last chapter opened with one stupid wave, so we might as well keep the trend going. On her way back in from a life-guarding shift, Minerva bumps into Ezequiel, the son of generation four vampire Odin. Unfortunately Odin himself was eaten by a cowplant during the brief time I had EA's own story progression on in this save, instead of relying on MCCC, but his twin vampire sons are still around and Ezequiel, in particular, has maintained some connection with the main family.

Inside, Luna is hanging out with Robyn pleasant, now a rather interesting-looking teen (I forgot to check who her father is but now I'm curious), but I'm not sure she's having a very good time.

Minerva's shift was over just in time for her to say yes when Bernard invites her to the Humor and Hijinks festival. Promising! Unfortunately this kid appears to be intensely in touch with his emotions, because we have had him incandescent with rage and now we have him deeply depressed. Bernard, son, are you okay?

Minerva works on her empathy trying to cheer him up, with some degree of success. Oh, hey Flora!

Leaving Bernard for a moment to wrangle his feelings into something more appropriate for a date, Minerva enjoys a catch up with her older sister and a few other festival-goers.

Then our girl decides a little clinical depression needn't prevent a successful date, and cheers Bernard up much more successfully with some light flirtation and a first kiss.

Which she promptly writes about in her diary as the festival winds down. A successful evening!

Minerva is not the only one getting out and about and making memories, either. Kaori only has eyes for her wife - old Snowy Escape sweetheart from her teenage years, Kyoshi, is now firmly in the friendzone. He's her handy dandy companion for mountain-climbing today.

It's a gorgeous day to hike up a mountain as they set off.

Perhaps she should have picked someone younger to join her though...

Kyoshi proves to be an adept climber however, more adept even that Kaori. Actually I totally fucked this up, she had level 5 climbing skill and I figured she'd get the last of the experience she needed on the way up the mountain, as they need level 6 for the final climb. That wall appeared way quicker than I expected though, and once you've moved past a stage you can't go backwards to climb the smaller walls a few times for more experience. I had to give up halfway through and make another attempt the next day but ho hum, let's just pretend I'm not totally shite at this game, yes?

Kaori's choice of sustenance for this full day climbing effort was a taco and some miso soup from the vending machine. She's a professional.

The climb took them into the evening, which also came with a chance to respect some spirits, which gave her cash. Nice!

And not long after that, success! If you don't mess up the levels needed for rock climbing like I did, this is actually so easy. Too easy. But whatever, Kaori ticked the mountain excursion off for her aspiration...which I then found out wasn't even the last step. She needs to survive three wildlife attacks now? Goddamn it, it took forever to tick off the spirit encounter on a lower level, and I've never even seen any wildlife at Mt Komerabi. Loud sigh.

Kaori's mountain excursion was ticked off just in time for her elder birthday, which was celebrated with a winter cake (appropriate).

No one should be surprised that she is a darling old lady. I decided she could keep her new grey and pink hair, after a lifetime of blue tips. Change can be good.

Her first act as an elder is to enthusiastically cook a turkey for Harvestfest.

Minerva manages to appease a gnome while waiting for dinner.

Then we very nearly have a successful family dinner, ruined only by Whaitiri for some inexplicable reason choosing to have a slice of birthday cake instead of Kaori's lovingly prepared grand meal.

Flora also drops by for the holiday and Minerva gives her a key. I don't know why she wouldn't look at her sister during the interaction, though.

Following at least somewhat in their big sister's extremely high achieving footsteps, both the younger Legend girls are solid A students who always do their homework.

Minerva is perhaps less thrilled about spending her time this way than Flora was, though.

Which seemed to call for a little teenage fun to be had. A quick phone call to budding sweetheart Bernard...

And Minerva is having a lovely time out at the Bluffs, just the two of them, cozying up by the bonfire and getting to know each other better. Bernard remains a handsome and volatile love interest, and I am only slightly put off him by the insistence this game has that all male Sims not dressed by me wear those fucking stupid rings.

Ahem. Anyway, Minerva makes it official with Bernard, who agrees to be her boyfriend in the very location where Generation 3's Kali got engaged to her spouse, Max.

Kaori: your sister just let us know she's dating that nice boy, Bernard, she brought to Flora's birthday. Have you got your eye on anyone, Luna darling?
Luna: nice boy? Hah. Um, actually, maybe. He's coming to the Halloween party tonight.

The Legends decorated big time for this Spooky Day, in honor of Luna maybe getting some. Normal and not weird at all. I appreciate Kaori's choice of witch costume! I haven't figured out how to make the combination of a Spooky holiday and a Spooky party work though...it makes getting holiday tasks ticked off hard, and at the same time you can't have a goaled party. Also at any parties where there WOULD be a goal related to food, all my Sims start frantically cooking anything they can get their hands on, all at the same time. It's annoying, I keep finding half-finished mac'n'cheese around the place.

Luna, getting scared by the treat bowl, is a Star Wars thing. Minerva is a...pilot? Maybe also a Star Wars thing. I don't have Journey to Batuu so I wish I didn't have these costumes. I don't really like Star Wars and I much prefer the more generic costumes.

Like Whai's rockin' fairy costume!

Luna's friend Robyn is in the robot costume, and I suspect the boy in the boring sport costume might be the one she has her eye on...

He's handsome! And named Christopher. Also he has a pretty solid chin, so I feel like their kids would have at least a shot at like, half a chin.

Go Luna, get that nice chin.

When asked, Christopher obligingly carves a pumpkin for the cute alien that seems to be interested in him.

Have an equally cute Minerva starting the day with coffee in the cheerful kitchen. I just really liked this picture.

Also look who finally came to visit! Ghost made an appearance the same night as Maui, one of the family's dogs from Kui's time, and having been free of dogs entirely in life seemed less than happy about this new reality.

It turns out Minerva's coffee was put to good use, because Kaori, in an attempt to get attacked by wildlife, takes her girls hiking. As usual, Whaitiri is chilling at home on the computer - she is not an outdoorsy Sim.

I think Minerva might be having a caffeine buzz. She looks like she's having an existential crisis.

Despite promises of giant centipedes to worry about, the family make it to the mountain shrine unharmed. Damn it.

Then they all wander back down to the town for a catch up.
Luna: is anyone else worried Mum is going crazy? She seemed disappointed when we didn't get attacked by wildlife.
I have a feeling there's a lot of hiking in Kaori's future. Possibly also the rest of the family, if she keeps dragging them along.

Kaori has also taken over the garden, which Flora used to look after, as it's the main cash earner to cover the bills.

Which makes her by far the busiest Sim in the household, and prone to moments like this. Minerva is solid at school and at the top of her lifeguard job, Luna is also a good student and chipping away at her aspiration while working as a babysitter, and Whai spends all her time programming - a skill she has now maxed and uses mainly to make apps and viruses. Kaori does...everything else...the cooking, cleaning, gardening, and parenting, on top of a job and regular visits to Mt Komerabi. Phew.

And that brings us to the end of the chapter! Will poor Kaori get a rest? Will Bernard make a good boyfriend or break my lovely Minerva's heart? Will Luna hook up with handsome, strong-jawed Christopher? Tune in next time to find out!
