Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! In the last chapter our first eligible Generation 7 kiddo grew up into a cute toddler, Whaitiri and Kaori continued to be very close and fond of each other, and Kaori pretended not to know anything about her wife's criminal enterprises and her wife's niece's murderous aspirations.

Kaori is going to need to keep burying her head in the sand. Whaitiri was promoted to Anonymous Ghost in the Oracle career track, and the description said she now spends her days creepily and anonymously stroking a black cat from behind a closed door, or something. Kui took her dog Mars with her when she left, and there's plenty of space, plus the Legends have never had a cat in the main household, so Whaitiri of course had to adopt herself a black cat and call it Ghost.

Naturally the adoption lady went and pinched plants out of my very buggy garden, got stuck, and wouldn't leave even after Ghost was adopted though. I had to quit the game as I was afraid the cat crate would be stuck in the bathroom forever; even MCCC couldn't make her leave. So then I had to remake Ghost in CAS, and it was a whole thing, but anyway the Legends have a black female cat called Ghost now.

Ghost is a Bombay cat, which I've never heard of before, but was the only black cat on offer in the adoption menu so that's what I went with when I made her in CAS later. I love her giant yellow eyes!

I realised the Legends had never had a cat in the main household when I got tired of having all the family urns in the entranceway, and decided to make a family graveyard outside again now that excessive mourning seems to have been stopped. So everyone is out here now, and I'm free to start renovating the house, which you'll see some of over this chapter and the next few. In the bottom right corner are the three pet graves - Mika and Kahu, Kui's dogs, and Maui, the golden retriever the family had before them.

I've also been reading a few other legacies again and one thing I really enjoy is the effort some people put in to continually making over the family's spaces to reflect the changing family. Kaori and Whaitiri chose to stay in Whai's teenage bedroom, as Kui was still here in the room usually reserved for the heir and spouse, but I updated to reflect her and Kaori being a bit more mature (yet still very cool). The colour palette came from the orange lip painting done by Luca before he left, and (not pictured) a blue rug the same colour as the posters on the left obtained by Whai at some point during her career.

Oh, what do we have here? Family troublemakers Juno and Whaitiri meeting up at the Humour and Hijinks Festival? What could possibly go wrong?

Actually Juno disappeared almost immediately, presumably to conduct a seduction/murder combo somewhere in private, but Whai got into the spirit with another round as a Prankster.

She needed mischief skill for her job, and almost immediately got stuck into insulting this unnamed elderly woman and Lilith Pleasant.

Then she bound a voodoo doll to Lilith, just for the heck of it, but later I also caught Lilith binding a voodoo doll and I suspect it was to Whaitiri, so they enter a kind of voodoo stalemate where neither can use their doll without risking retaliation from the other. A kind of voodoo-based mutually assured destruction problem, if you like.

Back home, some far more wholesome activities are underway, with Kaori beginning to teach her daughter using flashcards.

When Whaitiri gets back from causing general misery, she's on bath duty.

Following this, as Flora finds her first streak of artistic inspiration, she also meets Ghost.

Ghost might have been intended to be Whaitiri's cat for evil, contemplative stroking purposes, but Ghost bonds with her pretty pink-clad daughter instead. So cute!

For a supposedly angelic toddler Flora is kind of a handful. She's very into both mess-making and tearing up books.

Not that her mother seems worried.
Kaori: what you doing there, kiddo?
Flora: painting the hallway with chocolate and flour.
Kaori: good for you!
She actually tried to nicely ask Flora not to make a mess, which Flora merrily ignored.

For which she received exactly zero consequences and instead got to play. Very responsible child-rearing choice.

In fact, both of Flora's Mums seem more interested in indulging their daughter than shaping her into a responsible person, but hey, she's like three. There's time.

You know what my absolute favourite thing is? When a toddler is so starving that you get the warning notification to feed them before they're taken away, so you direct them to get floor food you've just taken out of the fridge in the upstairs nursery (it's convenient, okay) and instead of toddling a few metres to the cushy seat put there for that exact purpose, the idiot toddler toddles, oh so slowly, with their pathetic movement skill, down a flight of stairs to the lounge to eat instead, all the while their hunger bar inching ever closer to state intervention.
Yeah. I love that.

Then they have to toddle all the way back upstairs to play. Nice to work on the movement skill and all, but you COULD pick a better time, Flora.

Ghost, now an adult cat, has the biggest eyes I've ever seen. She looks permanently startled and I love her.

Anyway, on a more productive note, Kaori finally managed to get promoted to senior detective! Her next work requirement is to solve two cases, which she's already done, so I still don't need to follow her to work for a while.

Whaitiri: promoted?! Congrats, babe! We should go out for dinner to celebrate, especially since it's also bargain bin Valentine's day!

It's been a while since these two got all dressed up in their pretty outfits and spent some time just the two of them - since Flora came along, really.

Whaitiri wasn't totally sure she liked the experimental food.

Kaori liked her brisket thing though, and they both enjoyed each other's company.

In fact they had a gold medal date, but because it ended ever so slightly after Love Day finished, they both got sad emojis for a sucky holiday. Damn it, they were obviously ON a date, couldn't that count?!

Back from daycare, I discover Flora can imitate Ghost, which has an adorable pretend ear-washing animation.

Ghost is Flora's little shadow, joining story time once Whai and Kaori are back from their date, and pulling stupid faces the whole time.

Whaitiri then has cake for dessert, and I made a club for Kaori since we haven't had really any clubs since back in Kali's generation. She now leads the Mountaineers, an adventurous group that meet at Mt Komerabi to hike, participate in "winter activities", and rock climb. I hope it might help me work on her aspiration. When once of the club members wanders past the lot, Whai takes the opportunity to practice her mischief on him.

It was also Kaori's birthday around this time. She's a proper adult now!

Which meant it was time to get started on baby number two...

Kaori: we're having another kid, Whai! Kind of soon actually, I'm already in my second trimester.
Whaitiri: why didn't you tell me sooner?!
Kaori: this pregnancy has been a major drag on my needs and it took that long for the creator to get me into a decent state for a cute photo when I told you.

Oooh. That's a weird outfit. Whaitiri is now a net demon, leaving her with just one promotion to top her career. I also realised from this picture that as she is gaining some middle-age weight, she's turning into kind of a weird shape with her tiny shoulders.

A half-hearted attempt at exercise ensued with a few laps around the barely used pool. We'll see if I bother to make her do anything more than this.

Meanwhile, heavily pregnant Kaori goes on her first club hiking trip, at night, and yes she did pee herself at the top of the shrine and no she didn't encounter any forest spirits. Boo.

Oh hey, Gaia. Back to check up on your legacy?
Gaia: *is absolutely furious*
Kaori: er, hello Ma'am, hi, I'm the latest spouse, um, hope that's okay.
Gaia: this legacy is taking too long!
My fault, Gaia, not Kaori's.

Kaori: it's my oldest daughter's birthday, if that helps. Progress!
Flora managed to get the Happy Toddler trait.

She's more of a mixture of her parents than I expected! Flora is an art-loved and also rolled the creative aspiration, which makes for some nice cohesion. I think Kaori's eye shape may have come through. She's quite sweet looking with her space buns, and keeps her pink and flowery clothing theme.

She also makes an immediate start on her aspiration in the newly made-over kid's den, which got an orange-dominated rainbow theme with lots of blue accents and carpet instead of dark wood to lighten things up.

I kept a lot of the clutter in all sorts of random colours, though, because this den is one of my favourite rooms for how busy and lived-in it looks. It's also where Whai does most of her programming, so it's just occurred to me I should make her a proper office space in the lounge. Next play session!

Meanwhile, Kaori looks like she's got a headache.
Kaori: bills just came in. Twenty two grand. That's ridiculous. You know that's ridiculous, right?
This time they do actually have enough to pay them though, thanks to Whaitiri's promotions and Kaori's cheaty garden.

Kaori: *grumble grumble mutter mutter*
In reality, these two are established enough now that I'm not so worried about the bills, hence feeling a bit freer to redecorate the house.

Whaitiri isn't worried either. She's too busy causing problems for other Sims.
Whaitiri: hello, random person who knocked on our door.

Whaitiri: why don't you come on in so I can...*slap* Hah!

Random stranger: what a horrible rich lady. I'm going to go check out this crazy mansion now.
Whaitiri: and now with the lock of hair I swiped, foolish boy...
She finally has a voodoo doll she can use, but she's rubbish at voodoo and it all backfires on her or just doesn't work.

What's Flora up to while her Mum practices ethically questionable mischief on unwitting visitors to the Legend household? Playing with the cat that is now definitely hers. Aww.

While Kaori, the far more mature and responsible of the two, is upstairs undergoing a home birth for their second child, and determinedly ignoring any behaviour that by rights a cop should strongly object to.
Kaori: I currently have bigger problems than my wife practicing voodoo. Which I'm pretty sure is only a moral infraction, not a legal one, anyway. Pretty sure.

Unsurprisingly, it's another girl. Welcome, baby Minerva! She's named after the Roman equivalent to Athena - a connection to a previous heiress, maybe that bodes well for her!
And that brings us to the end of another chapter. Will this be another all-girl generation, like it was for all of Loki's children? Will Whaitiri ever successfully practice voodoo? Will Flora grow up into a well-adjusted darling or a spoilt brat? Tune in next time to find out!
