Chapter 5.11: Catching Back Up
Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! In the last chapter, we came to the end of an era really, losing Eric and both of Kui's dogs in quick succession. However, the family also moved out of the home that served them well for several generations, and into a frankly ridiculous mansion that should house the increasingly complex structure of the Legend family for several generations to come.

Let's open this new chapter with Kui, potential Generation 6 heiress, reading her second daughter Vesta a story in the brand new toddler bedroom.
Just so everyone is up to speed, Neith, our Generation 5 heiress, had three children. Her only son Rehua is out of the running on account of hating children, and Kui was looking like the heiress until Neith unexpectedly fell pregnant with another daughter, Whaitiri, much later in life. I can't choose between them yet, so while Juno and Vesta, Kui's daughters with husband Luca, are our first Gen 7 kids, it's not yet clear whether they are eligible as it's not yet clear Kui is the heiress.
There. Are we all on the same page? Maybe? Clear as mud?

This is Whaitiri, as a reminder, and the age difference between her and sister Kui is such that while Kui is well into raiding a young family, Whaitiri is only now becoming a teenager.

Oh. Oh my! She. Is. So. Cool!
This is why I can't choose between them. Kui is the obvious choice but just LOOK at Whaitiri! She rolled Dance Machine to add to her Erratic trait, which only makes her cooler. Gah! How to decide!

Well, anyway, let's go back to the house for a while. This is the new entrance way, now morbidly lined with the urns of generations of past Legends. I want our ghosts to stick around, and there's no basement, so this seemed as good a place for them as any.

At least...I think I want our ghosts to stick around.

I last played this a while ago so I'm not 100% sure what's happening here. I may have not yet installed a No Autonomous Mourning mod, although when I was poking around in my mod file yesterday there's one there now. It might be that the mod doesn't work on ghosts, but I don't care if our ghosts want to mourn other ghosts all the time, as long as the main family doesn't do it. If Miko wants to sob over a dead dog she can play with any time, that's her business.

Kui's business, meanwhile, is hanging out with friends and being pals with random animals.

Said friend, whose name I don't remember, did some casual concrete-based cloud gazing while Kui approached random strays to work on her aspiration. She's chipping away at it slowly.

And when she's not doing that she tends to be cooking, having effortlessly taken over chef duties for the household some time ago.

Meanwhile, our other contender for heiress must of course indulge her dance machine desires, and does so in the upstairs home spa, working on her moves ready for...

Hitting the clubs! A very appropriate teen activity, especially when it involves dancing with older married men.

Girl does got moves, though.

And who should she bump into but the original party girl, Ophelia, her distant but fabulous (and angry?) relative?! Ophelia shows her descendent some moves. It all comes full circle!

Neith, by this point, is increasingly famous and attracting the attention of the paparazzi wherever she goes.

Even when she attends a highly exclusive and expensive spa for a day of relaxation and peace...

...the photographers shamelessly follow her in for candid massage snaps! She should be furious at both the invasion of privacy and the lax security of this place, but I however am delighted as it's progress in her aspiration to be super famous.

Back home, Whaitiri is proving to be a very fit and energetic young person.

Who must occasionally confront the weird reality of her situation of in-running-for-heiress when this already affects the next generation.
Whaitiri: hello, niece. Or should I say...NEMESIS!
Juno: Hi Whaitiri. You cool?

Juno is mostly into kid things rather than heiress-in-waiting things, anyway, like meeting new friends with awesome hair at the playground.

Hmm. Maybe her crazy Aunt is rubbing off on her though.

In general she's a popular kid, with lots of friends, who gets on with others easily enough.

She wants to be a social butterfly, after all. Though I might have failed to mention she's also evil.

Juno: friends help with plotting world domination.

Now...I think I took this picture because Kui aged up from Young Adult to Adult, but I can't really remember. She looks happy/scared about something, and a reminder of your own mortality but also being given cake to eat seems appropriate to inspire that combination of emotions.

Whaitiri also knows she can't mess around with finding a spouse, even though she's just a teen, when she's in a race against the much older Kui, so she's often out meeting new people and looking for potential partner candidates.

Hmm...what does this mean? Whaitiri is part alien, though it's pretty diluted by this point. Is this woman part alien too then? Is this an alien thing? Could they potentially have an alien hybrid baby???

Speaking of babies, Vesta might not be an alien but she IS a witch, which is pretty cool too. And it's time for her child birthday.

Aw, she's cute! But let's be honest, not as interesting as Juno, especially as she's rolled the Music Lover trait that I've really had enough of.
And that brings us to the end of a shortish catch-up chapter. The next one will be longer, I just wanted to get all the pictures from my last time playing sorted out and in some kind of written form, as I don't have notes for any of this any more and so it was always going to be kind of scrappy. All three of my stories are now back up to date and I can start playing again, so that's exciting. Thanks for joining us again!
