Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! In the last chapter Kaori and Whaitiri got married, cementing their respective places as the Generation 6 Spouse and Heiress. They went on a lovely, romantic, and fairly productive honeymoon at Mt. Komerabi, before throwing the world's lamest Spooky Day party. When we left the two newlyweds, they were contemplating adding to the family.

Kaori: babe, it worked! I'm pregnant!
Whaitiri: I know! I just watched you pee on a stick!

Then Whaitiri went and maxed her dancing skill in her excitement, in the upstairs spa/gym. I'm excited too; because Neith was only a couple of days of elderhood when she accidentally fell pregnant with Whai through risky woohoo, she's long since passed over and Kaori and Whaitiri are the only Sims ratting around this big house. It'll be nice to have a bigger family occupying it again.

Kaori followed her wife upstairs and celebrated her pregnancy by exercising, which she hates, and which she chose to do all by herself. Sims are so smart.

And then I followed Kaori dabbling in a series of new hobbies. She's just waiting on her progress bar to move up enough to get her next promotion at work, and she can't work on her aspiration without going back to Mt. Komerabi, so she had some free time and, despite the lying lights, these two still owed some serious moolah in bills.

Okay, so the piano doesn't earn anything immediately, but Athena back in Generation 2 made some decent cash busking. Maybe eventually Kaori can do the same. She seemed to like this better than painting.

Her main job, though, is the garden, which seems to be glitching in an unusually helpful way. The plants keep progressing without Kaori fertilising them; she has new ones to evolve every time she heads out there. It feels kind of like cheating, but how often does a glitch actually do any good? Never, is the answer I would have given. I think I'm just going to enjoy it while it lasts.

She also seems to like her job, even when quite pregnant, although it pays like crap and she's not making progress up the ranks very fast. I have to say, crime really does pay - Whaitiri was promoted to Elite Hacker and there's far better compensation for it than a detective gets!

Whaitiri also works at night and is free to say yes when Juno, technically her niece, invites her over to Kui and Luca's new apartment in the city, which I chose for them when Kui wasn't selected as heiress because I thought a famous chef might enjoy the city. Kaori joins her there after work, though.

At this stage Kui and Luca still had both their daughters, Vesta and Juno, living with them, Vesta as a teenager and Juno as a young adult. I moved Juno into her own apartment not long after this so I could save her to the gallery. She's evil, hot-heated, a green fiend, and wants to be a serial romantic, so if you need a black widow-type character who also loves the environment, you can find her under AvariceSims. Maybe she can turn all the men she murders (after she seduces them, obviously) into compost for her very biodiverse native garden.

Juno and Whaitiri are really close but Kaori doesn't know her very well yet, so the sweet detective and future serial killer start to bond. For a cop, Kaori sure is surrounded by Sims with highly questionable morals.

Kaori also announces her pregnancy, in case anyone couldn't already tell. Kui is excited. It's so weird to me she's already an elder - picking the much later oopsie baby of the generation instead of her really slowed me down! If I'd picked Kui, we'd already be underway finding Juno her spouse, and probably not too far from Generation 8 babies. Gen 8!!! But that's fine, I'm in the mood to make some real progress with the Legends now, so we'll catch back up.

Back home, the quietness of the house at least means Kaori and Whaitiri are free to have late brunches and flirt with each other to their heart's content. It's Winterfest, so Kaori makes Whai a grand breakfast.

Then sweeps her off her feet <3

The game finally remembered they're not supposed to have any power because they haven't paid their bills, so by the mood lighting of the fireplace they decorate their first Winterfest tree together. Kaori is pretty heavily pregnant by now.

In the hopes of getting something decent to sell for the bills, Kaori asks for a present when Father Winter drops by. She gets a shitty digital camera, which is not worth much but at least it's not dog poo.

Whaitiri needs to work on her mischief skill for work and also needs to punish Father Winter for giving her wife a mediocre gift. Two birds, one stone.

Then, the next morning, it's time for the first actual Generation 7 baby! And what's this? A living doctor? Not a ghost? Wow, the hospital is really splashing out, hiring staff that aren't dead and probably actually have to be paid and everything.

Things go a lot smoother when your doctor isn't hearing the call of the void during delivery.

And just like that...welcome to the legacy, Flora!
I said in an earlier chapter I wanted Japanese gods and goddesses for the names of this generation, but I forgot that I'd already gone with Roman gods and goddesses when naming Kui's children while they were still in the running (Juno and Vespa). So we'll save Japanese deities for the next generation. Flora is the Roman goddess of flowers (duh), nature, and Spring.

The bad news around this time was the repo lady finally swung by, and she took the fancy computer Whaitiri does all her hacking on. The good news is this paid enough of the bills for them to be able to afford the rest and get the lights and water back on.

So when Kaori hugs her new daughter, it doesn't have to be in grim, broke darkness.

Whaitiri isn't as maternal as Kaori - she is, after all, an insane dance machine - but she still pitches in with Flora and isn't totally useless.

Kaori has taken on the bulk of the cooking, cleaning, and probably childcare, so Whai also picks up handiness and starts upgrading the many appliances around the house. Said house is still in its gallery state, which is nice but not very personalised, so I hope her and Kaori might start making it more molded to the Legends over time.

Miko: doo doo doo, don't mind me, just starting a potion and then getting bored and leaving halfway through.
I disabled the NAP that supposedly causes this ages ago, but somehow that just made it even more annoying. Before, the ghosts made tons of decoctions on the grill and left them scattered around out the back, baffling and pointless but mostly out of sight and out of mind. Now, they repeatedly start brewing them on the stove but never finish them, leaving a never-ending line up of dirty pots for Kaori to deal with since they had to dismiss the maid and none of the ghosts presently appear interested in cleaning.

Then, quite suddenly, it's New Years.
Whaitiri: cheers to us! And Flora! And my "friends".
Kaori: why did you do air quotes around "friends"?
Whaitiri, whispering: shhh, they'll hear you. They're not really my friends, but they'll murder everyone if I don't pretend.
Insane Sims :)

They watched the countdown together - Kaori focused on the TV, Whai doing a little dance.

New Year's kiss!

Then Kaori gets to introduce herself to the ghost of her father-in-law, who died too soon to meet her while still living.
Kaori: so you died before the creator extended elder lifespans, huh?
Eric, sadly: yeah :(

Kaori has been waiting all winter to be able to plant more and expand the garden as an important source of income. The first day of spring allowed her to do so, despite the ground being obviously as frozen as it was five minutes ago, when she was not allowed to plant these fully formed flowers and spinach leaves, which, despite not being seeds, will grow into new plants.

Fittingly, the first day of spring is also Flora's birthday! Heck yes, babies are so boring.

And toddlers are so cute! Flora, I suspect, may be the spitting image of Whaitiri. She's definitely inherited Whai's skin tone, and I suspect also most of her features. The brown eyes are from Whai too; Kaori's are darker, I think.
I've taken the mod out that I used to have for genetic coloured hair for toddlers and kids because its not being updated anymore and there are a lot of ineligible hairs now, so the black she got is the same as Kaori's and I can't tell if she would have gotten green hair. From now on, if the hair is a random colour instead of the colour of the non-unnatural hair parent, the child will get the coloured hair when they age to teen.

Anyway, she's a little cutie, and gets dressed in lots of florals and pinks.

I had to show you her CAS picture because she's dressed in this adorable poofy outfit when it's cold, as it definitely still is in early spring, so you can't see her cute curly hair.

Kaori is not only a natural Mum but also a really sweet and loving wife, baking Whaitiri a matcha cake for her adult birthday. Yes, that's rolled around already!

Okay, so she then wandered off to make herself a drink at the globe drink stand thing, unable to resist the siren call of anything even tangentially related to a bar - she is but a Sim, after all - but the thought was there.

Whaitiri rocks adulthood. I can't believe we're that far already. I still can't get used to the empty house, with just two Sims (we're not counting what feels like hundreds of ghosts) this far into the generation.

I'm sure Whaitiri and Kaori would like to add some more kiddos, but I've decided to wait until Kaori becomes a proper adult too, in a few days time.

And that brings us to the end of this chapter! Will Whai and Kaori have any kids that look anything like Kaori? Will the house ever be full of Sims again (remember the 12 Sim days, when Bruno kept having alien children against his and my will)? Will I regret not enjoying these carefree two Sim household days? Tune in next time to find out!
