Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! In the last chapter parks were visited, Athena was mourned, and the world record for longest pee waddle was set in a joint effort between Thor and Loki. This chapter, we start off back at work with generation 3 heiress Kali...

...whose favourite work task is to freeze her coworkers.

And laugh at them after she's done it. None of her work colleagues are her friends, by the way. I wonder why that could be.

Every now and then she's made to do something productive and useful, however. Look! Finally! Wormhole!!

So I don't actually know how these things work. Kali fiddled with it for a while and got a moodlet about contacting aliens successfully, but nothing else happened. Do aliens just pop outta this thing at random, or what?

Alien?!!??!
I got all excited but nope, just blue from being frozen. Goshdarnit.

Aliens continue to elude me. Grrr. I will find you and I will force you into this legacy. This I vow!

When Kali's wormhole fails to immediately vomit out an alien she spends the rest of her shift dicking around with other things, ineptly. Oooh, look at the judgemental expression on the face of the woman behind her! I have no regrets about freezing you, snotty science lady!

Lady in the background is a "tourist" that turned up randomly to the lab. Alien???? If so, I couldn't figure out how to undisguise her.

But hey, the day is far from a failure, with Kali managing a promotion to Laboratory Leader! So she gets to wear this swanky robot suit now, which is for sure a win in my book.

Kali is not the only one being successful in the Legend household right now. Pictured, a rare picture of all three boys, and none of them are arguing. They are all doing their homework quietly. A miracle.

Also, Loki manages to finish his Artistic Prodigy childhood aspiration!! Following in Mama's footsteps - Kali was the first Legend to complete a childhood aspiration, though hers was Whiz Kid. Now he can play on Grandma Athena's piano, which gives me the feels.

Speaking of Grandma Athena.....

She's baaaaack! With her being angry and the suggestion of knives in the background, this is an oddly threatening picture.

Why are you mad anyway, Athena?
Athena: dunno. Stupid trash can.

Here we go again.

The boys are unperturbed by Athena and her bad mood, and somehow manage to give me ANOTHER picture of them all together and not arguing. Amazing! What is happening here?!

Quick gameplay quirk to explain here - with the kids, I tend to take a relaxed approach to homework. If they have time they do it but if they're focused on stuff like their aspirations and don't get around to it, I'm okay with that. Maybe subconsciously I direct some Sims in this area more than others though...Kali the nerdy whiz kid was a straight A student who usually did her extra credit, for example. Amusingly, Loki and Odin are both A students, while Thor chills somewhere around a B. Namesake appropriateness FTW!

Another thing I find funny - this picture shows Thor and Odin both working on their Rambunctious Scamp aspirations. So rambunctious. Such scamps. Whatever will we do with these wild children.

A cute Kali-Odin bonding moment.

Anyway, what of Max? He's still around, and when I unchain him from his easel (we're getting super close to the new house now, guys) he's even allowed a social life sometimes. Kathy invited him out for a drink...

...on a night where if you dressed as a Suit of Armour you got cheap drinks. Neither Max nor Kathy have a suit of armour to wear, so they had to pay full price.

Also, hi again Grim. Nice to see you're out and about on the town as much as ever.

Max: this is fine.

When Kathy started getting down on the dance floor with one of the Knights Max took it as a cue to make his exit!

Swinging by the quiet museum to admire some artwork instead. Much more his scene, I think. He needed to view paintings for his aspiration, I took the opportunity.

The next day Kali is back at work, striving hard towards scientific achievement...
Man, I wish I could nap at work!

There's more potion-making, though really I'm only here for the aliens.

Alas, although she jabs it with a screwdriver some more, the wormhole still doesn't spit out an alien.
(Also, yes, I realise I could just google the scientist career and aliens and figure out exactly how this whole alien progression works, but I'm actually enjoying playing around with it in game without too much prior knowledge).

Kali does get to invent the cloning machine on this shift, too, which seems like it could be fun. I ran out of time to play with it but she'll have many work days in the future.

She's gonna need them because....TA-DA! The Legend's are officially broke, and they officially, finally, have a new house!! Not quite before Christmas, as I'd hoped, though technically I played this around about Christmas time. I'm only getting around to writing it up this late because of the usual Christmas/New Year busyness.

This is a gallery download, I believe from ruthless. I had it picked out as the basic floorplan for my permanent legacy house for ages - I hope that I'll just be able to add on and expand as needed, rather than placing a new house from scratch, from now on. I couldn't afford the furnished version and I figured it'd be "fun" to decorate it myself.

Well, it kinda was fun, but figuring out what was meant to go where was a challenge! I'm sure the internal layout of the house is wildly different to what was intended, but let's take a tour.

From a distance!

Okay, the internal spaces. One of my faves is the kitchen, because I decorated in here first while I still had plenty of money.

Another view of the kitchen, plus the dining which lies alongside it.

The living area. The two doors are added by me, because...

I added a teenager's bedroom on one side (and clearly was running out of funds to decorate!)...

And I added a child's bedroom next to that. So these come off the lounge, because the original floorplan had the kid's rooms and nursery on the basement level, but I wanted most of the living on the first floor.

The master suite is on the other side of the house to the kid's rooms. There's currently no nursery, but when I do add one it will attach to this room.

This little study nook is by the master bedroom door (by the pie chart). The stairs lead down to the basement, and my Sims like to head downstairs a lot...

Because this is now where the collections live! I might find a way to lock this off, I'm not sure. If I removed the stairs they couldn't get down here which might be best. The Legacy suit of armour in the corner has vacated the family inventory, which is technically a rule violation but YOLO.

Is it only me or are the shelving systems really not optimal? Anyway, there's the doll collection (I think missing about four), our first couple of prints, and the element thingymabob, missing a couple of elements.

Oooh pretty. Fossils and metals.

And of course a crapton of frogs. See what I mean though?! Why can't I stack 9 frogs on this shelf if I want to? Why does it insist on making me use this stupid arrangement. Do you know how many frogs there are?!

Anyway, that's basically it. I'm pretty happy with the house so far, though it needs thousands spent to make it more homely and decorative - I haven't even touched the outdoor spaces! I'd like to add stuff packs too...so much to do, but adding to it over time is half the fun! It's just super nice having enough living space for a legacy family, now. I didn't take a picture but the house does also have an elder's room, for the heir and their spouse once one of their children take over the legacy, though that room too needs a lot of work. Also there are bathrooms, but they're tiny so I will probably modify them eventually.

All in all though, life can now progress in this beautiful roomy space much more easily and pleasantly for the Legend family!

And life does, indeed, start going on. The first birthday in the house is Kali who is joining Max in adulthood. As always, a momentous occasion in which the Sim undergoing the age transition looks exactly the same as before.

You know what birthdays are way more exciting, though?
Teen birthdays! Loki's teen birthday, to be precise!
Look at that expression. So confident. Cocky, even. I love it.

And he's cute!!! He looks more like Max than I thought he would, that's definitely his father's nose. He also took after Kali in many ways though, including eye and hair colour. He keeps his cool spiky hair cut...

And gets a look that I personally think is effortlessly cool and collected. What an awesome kid. I loved him as a child, and I still love him as a teenager!

Loki rolls the Painter Extraordinaire aspiration. After being an artistic prodigy as a child, and having an artist for a father, this seems very fitting even if it is the same aspiration as Max has. He also adds the Snob trait to his Mean trait...again, appropriate. Movie Loki always liked the finer things in life, right? Overall I love his personality and goals so far, he's a bit challenging without being nonsensical. Everything fits and works together!

And with that, we finish this chapter! Athena came back from beyond the grave, Loki and Kali had birthdays, and after a monumental effort the Legends finally got into a new, larger house. Will Kali EVER manage to find an actual alien? How will the boys get on as they move towards the tumultuous teenage years? Will Max get better at painting? Tune in next time to find out!
