The Legend Legacy Chapter 7.9: Bubble, Bubble

Welcome back to the Legend Legacy! In the last chapter Morrigan moved in, made over, and had a baby with Kareem. Brigid ventured to Selvadorado and feuded with her twin, Miach, and forgotten middle child Ceridwen moved out. This chapter we have an heir announcement, so read on!

First though, Minerva meets the first of her grandchildren to be born at home, although Morrigan's son Daikoku is in fact her fourth grandchild.

I figure it's time for them to get to know their other grandkids, so her and Bernard drop by Henford-on-Bagley to see Gwydion and his family.

Jayda, their oldest, is a chatty girl who is very impressed by her grandmother turning up dressed in her astronaut uniform. The toddler, Herbert, wandered off outside to go play alone in the stream, unsupervised, at night...I guess Gwydion and Bailee are very relaxed parents who ascribe to the natural selection method of raising children...

Then it's a quick trip to Sulani, to catch up with Balor and Mabon.

And meet Mabon's son Nathaneal, who is an alien hybrid with Jewel's skin tone. And who is also wandering around outside by himself at night. It's a wonder any extended family Legend children make it to adulthood.

Morrigan is back at work shortly after Daikoku's birth, because fame waits for no-one. She looks more scary happy than scary when reprimanding a patient in a scene though, so I don't know if she's a very good actress.

Back home, a major milestone has been reached. The youngest twins of Minerva and Bernard have reached young adulthood, meaning they successfully raised seven children and only killed one aunt and one aunt's boyfriend in the process. First up is Miach, who rolls active to add to squeamish and neat. He has wanted to be a super parent since his teen birthday, and retains that wish now that he's an adult. He also graduated high school with honours.

Then Brigid has her birthday, rolling genius to add to her other traits of perfectionist and outgoing. I kind of love her personality! She retains her wish to be a jungle explorer and, appropriately, graduates high school as the valedictorian.

Brigid, who despite being a great Sim with a wonderful personality is not our heir, signs up to be a scientist and moves to Oasis Springs with her girlfriend, Serenity, almost immediately.

Shortly thereafter, Morrigan and Kareem, along with baby Daikoku, move to Del Sol Valley for Morrigan to continue pursuing her acting career. I contemplated keeping her around long enough to have her and Kareem get married, but decided against it in the end.

Which if you've been counting leaves just one Sim in the legacy house with Minerva and Bernard - Miach is our heir! Though both Brigid and Morrigan would have been great choices, I haven't had a male heir since Loki, and I like that Miach's been committed to having a family since his teenage years. Miach signs up to the Athlete career, which I haven't had a Sim in since Bruno (also from Loki's generation!) and quite suddenly, with just three Sims to look after, my game feels very quiet and manageable!

As such, it's a quiet Harvestfest for the Legends when it rolls around this time. They are all very impressed by Bernard's excellent cooking though, including Bernard himself.

After the required family time, Miach invites his high school crush around. Meaghan has been on the periphery of his life for a long time, but he never managed to progress any kind of relationship with her - probably because I had Morrigan and Kareem, and Brigid and Serenity, to worry about. Now it's definitely his turn! He invites her over and then asks if she'd like to join him at the Bluffs.

Meaghan is so pretty! I checked her family tree, and she's a third generation Sim who traces back to the Ho and Ikeda families. I gave her a makeover to make her look like this but didn't create her. I think it's cool that such a pretty and interesting Sim is around eight generations into this legacy.

They spend a romantic afternoon swimming and making out...

And even enjoy some au natural intimacy. Miach found out by this point that Meaghan is creative, a geek, and a maker. She agrees to be his girlfriend and he is most definitely smitten.

With only three Sims in the house, and no babies or toddlers now Daikoku has left with Morrigan and Kareem, Minerva finds herself with plenty of time to fish. She headed to Forgotten Hollow and managed to nab the weird squid thing.

Meanwhile Miach was promoted, meaning he doesn't have to go to work dressed like this any more.

Then, at long last, it's time for Minvera to join Bernard in elderhood. Five pregnancies, each of which froze her aging, gave her plenty of extra life. A nice, very non-realistic perk of being a Sim over a real human!

Adorably, Minerva's mother Whaitiri gives her a birthday hug and welcomes her to her older years.

Less adorably, Bernard then sets himself and the oven on fire for the hundreth time. I don't know what's up with my game, but despite have level 10 cooking and gourmet cooking, and this being the most expensive and upgraded oven you can get, he sets things on fire every second or third time he cooks. Every Sim in the household now has a fear of fire and they're constantly having to replace the expensive oven.

Not too much later, given the house is so quiet and Miach's relationship with Meaghan was going well, she was invited to move into the legacy household. I discovered Meaghan is a witch with the ancient bloodline trait! We haven't had any spellcasters since Sekhmet in generation 5 married Darrel Charm and their daughter, Rohe, was born with ancient bloodline, so I was pretty excited about this.

First order of business was to send Meaghan to the magic realm to get her set up for a life of witchy shenanigans.

This naturally included a wand, a broomstick, and this funny little evil rabbit fairy thing as a familiar, which I found an amusing juxtaposition to Meaghan's aesthetic preferences for soft pinks and pastels.

I swear she does like magic stuff, just maybe not potions? She had the serial romantic aspiration when she arrived but I switched her to the spellcaster one, since I already did serial romantic with Loki.

The next event to roll around was the romance festival, and with a couple of young lovebirds in the family, it seemed a good chance to send some Sims along.

Meaghan and Miach did all the cute romance festival things!

I don't think anyone will be surprised that Miach took advantage of the atmosphere for a surprise proposal.

Or, in fact, that he and Meaghan thought they might as well have an impulsive wedding and take advantage of the beautiful festival arch and setting.

Kind of obsessed with my Gen 8 couple tbqh.

They topped off their romantic wedding night with a consummation in their newly madeover room. Previously Mabon's teenage bedroom, it's decorated in shades of pink and blue, combining their favourite colours.

Meanwhile, Penny is in a nearby bathroom dutifully fixing the sink. Legacy life rolls on with the usual whimsy!

In this very family focused chapter, Minerva indulges in more grandkid time by taking Jayda - now a pretty teenager - to Sulani and teaching her how to fish.

Minerva has now retired from work, and is soothing the tension of waiting for her workaholic lifestyle to wear off by throwing herself into adding to the Legend's collections.

Bernard on the other hand takes Herbert, now a middleschooler, to Geekcon and they spend a pleasant snowy afternoon gaming together.

Around this time Miach managed another promotion and chose the Bodybuilder path of his career, since Bruno took the Professional Athlete route.

The notification for high school graduation for Miach, Meaghan, and Brigid came when Minerva was out, so I sent her along, but only Brigid was in attendance.

I guess the other two didn't care about their graduation enough to bother attending, but Minerva was excited to see her youngest daughter give the valedictorian speech.

One day this janky game will get basic shit like not having a graduate and her elderly mother wear their togs to a graduation ceremony right, but today was not that day.

I think I can understand Miach and Meaghan skipping graduation - they had more grown-up things to worry about, like Meaghan being pregnant!

She had morning sickness through the whole first trimester, poor thing.

Even so, she started work at her new job in Civil Design.

She also took up painting...

And kept developing her magic, learning several new spells and leveling up.

Late in Meaghan's pregnancy Winterfest rolls around, and by this time I had clicked to the idea of making clubs for the extended family, so we were able to have a more social event without the chaos of proper social events like dinner parties, which carry the risk of everyone freezing to death.

It was nice having all the generation seven siblings all together again!

Meaghan didn't meet Morrigan before she moved out, so she was a little overwhelmed by having a celebrity in the house.

The spouses are in a different club and also came around for the festivities.

Managed to get this random selection of four Sims eating a grand meal together (fish caught by Minerva). Bernard, as per usual, in his underwear.

Then Meaghan actually went into labour as Minerva was feeling her tummy!

Meaghan chose to labour at home with Miach for distraction and support.

Then welcomed the first official, eligible generation nine baby in a home birth. Welcome Inari! A girl named after the Japanese goddess Inari Okami.

We'll finish this chapter with a sneak preview of the newly made over lounge. Bernard's bar has been replaced with a cauldron for Meaghan, although the bottles on the wall recall his career and skill as a mixologist.
And that brings us to the end for now! Will Miach be the super parent he's always dreamed of being? Will Minerva forget about work and embrace being retired? Will the last couple of generations survive the household's ultra flammable oven? Tune in next time to find out!
